Cold air intake for an XJ8
Hi,
Has anyone installed this ( http://www.jaguarxp.com/jagxp/Jaguar...0%20intake.htm) cold air intake from Jaguar XP? if so what are your experiences with it? I was thinking about buying myself this for my birthday but I wasnt sure if I should, it kind of sounds too good to be true (12 hp at the wheels), and I read about some bad expierences with people who installed this on an X-Type.
This is for a 2004 XJ8
Thanks,
Mat

Getting too much air for the stock fueling perhaps? My experience with these type of open intakes on other V8 cars, is that they make more noise and no noticable power - but can give a few extra MPG.

hlgeorge,
Thanks for the reply.......... do you notice any increase in power? and would you happen to have a video of the car with the exhaust system? if so I would be really interested in seeing it. One last thing......has anyone installed a K&N Air filter? Does it actually give you more power?
Thanks Again,
Mat

There were people complaining of CEL comming on with the K&N filter as well. Do a search on the net an you'll find plenty of feedback not jag cars, but still.
I agree with hlgeorge, the car has plenty of power as it is. Funny storry: After driving the xj8 for 3 weeks, I was getting ready to sell my Hyundai Elantra. When I drove to the gass station tofill the tank, I tought the poor thing was broken: it was completely lacking any acceleration compered with the xj. I know the Hyundai has the horespower of an ox cart, but still the difference was shocking.
As s point of reference I'm getting a little above 22MPG in daily commute traffic (avg. speed 28 MPH :-( ). Cruising is prety good 28-30. I find it funny that the car does better MPG whencruising at70-75 Mph compared with 55-60 Mph. Overall I'm very impressed with the mileage. My wife's Acura MDX is doing 17 MPG and it has a V6 (it's much heavier tough).
