Default Collapsed Cooling Hose

Dear Forum,
Just removed the large air pipe from the air cleaner box to the Throttle Body and this is what I saw beneath:
Is this normal? Will it spring back out when I (eventually, I hope) restart the car?

Mine were doing the same thing, exactly. The problem ended up being the thermostat housing had failed. I replaced the thermostat housing, thermostat and both hoses. In addition to the hoses collapsing, the car would experience spikes in engine coolant temperature which would peg the coolant temperature gauge momentarily.

Thanks NDW,
I have had absolutely no cooling problems, so it would appear that I have this to look forward to next?!

Regards,
Ray

The thermostat housing is easy to replace, just a few nuts to take off and one electrical connection on the air intake hose. You don't have to replace the coolant pipe coming up from the top of the engine, that would take considerably more time and busted knuckles. The collapsing hoses may be an indicator of the failure of the t-stat housing, I am not sure about that. I do know that I replaced my hoses first and they continued to collapse. Then I replaced the t-stat housing and haven't had an issue since.

Actually, the hose is showing enough swelling, it may be time to consider replacement before rupture. Earlier this year, I replaced all rubber, pump and tree, and it was amazing to see the amount of swelling internally had happened, and that you cannot see externally.

Thank you David,
Have you got the part number - I don't trust myself to buy the correct hose!

I bought the parts from the local Jaguar dealer, not too expensive, don't have the proper tool to fit the spring hose clamp , i used a jublee clamp for the bottom , just be careful if you do the same, the radiator tank is plastic so don't over-tighten the clamp,

I would suggest you contact your local Jaguar dealer with your VIN so they can specify the correct part number.

We have seen this before on the forum and I think you will find

that a new rad cap will solve the problem.
