Default Config B & flashing red & amber lights

Can someone please tell me how I go about getting this Config B message along with the red and amber flashing lights reset on my 2004 Vanden Plas. The car sat for a while, I had to change the battery and now this message is driving me crazy!

Thank you,

Ron

I also had this after unhooking battery for suspension work I was doing. I couldn't find anything but reflash at dealer but when I called dealer they had never heard of it but would give it a go. Before that I unhooked battery a few more times with different amount of time and way of discharging pos to neg and out the blue message disappeared on the four attempt. So fiddle for a little then worse case call the dealer.

Hello iamron,

I got the same problem. Battery went dead and now I have the flashing red & yellow warning signs on the dash. When you disconnected your battery did you use a battery tender to prevent losing your codes or did you just do a normal disconnect and if so did you lose any codes. You say this solved your problem right? How long has this been and the coded not came back on say Configuration B? Thanks for any help you can givce me. I have a 2004 XJ8

Had to try a few times but did go on like the third try. I disconnected everything as had radio code to had that way ecu also relearn a driving style which I always do when buying a new car. The light was then off for the rest of the time I had the car.

what is Mongoose/SDD? assuming this is a mechanic device, do I have to go to a dealer or mechanic? I took my 2004 VDN with same issue to Jag shop and mechanic said he never heard of Config B coming on as result of changing battery. He cleared the codes with a device but config B reappeared(or never went off) so I need to take it back to leave it with him. He said code indicates ecm near battery area?? so, Im suprised to see others with same problem and resolved by disconnecting battery many times(I havent tried that because I was leaving it to the pros)

Default config B code after replacing battery

Is config B a broad term code or is it specific to a fixable problem/area? The mechanic didn't think this code was associated with me changing the battery but that it indicated a faulty module housed near the battery area (I need to tke it back for him to further research). I'm confused because I haven't seen any of you guys mention replacing a module but only reflashing or disconnecting the battery multiple times as a result on config B..it seems more of a reset than a fix with replacement problem.(2004 XK8 w/4.2 engine @203k miles)
