Config E dashboard message - RESOLVED

My personal opinion is that you are being taken for a ride.
Try to find an independant Jaguar or Land Rover workshop in your area, hopefully they have an IDS/SDD system and they can do the reflash.
OR
If you are stuck with these guys now, insist that they try a reflash of the ECU and GEM before they do anything mechanical.
Pity i'm not still in Switzerland I would have come over & done it myself for you...

Just took the car back because I didn't agre the mecatronic unit replacement
Thay told me the reflash was done , but I am not sure
the bill shows 4 hours wiring loom and earth check ! , and half and hour diag with SDD and clearing DTC ( seems short for a diag + reflash ? )
last fault code is P0610 which they translate as mecatronic unit failure
the car was at a Jaguar main dealer for this diag , and independant Jag specialist are not so commun here ( the one I know work mainly on old jag without ECU ! )

That seems way to short for SDD
It will take 20mins to do the re-flash alone
From memory, what I had the config R the initial SDD connection did not show a fault.
I had to Reflash the ECU and REM to fix
This is a manual operation
To keep it basic
Your ECU must be working if your car runs!!!
The Config messages are telling you the module is not talking on the bus or is sending some corrupted data
This is why the reflash is needed
Its very clear in the TSB I posted for you
Maybee a kind member can help you out with SDD/Mongoose but my suggestion is to get your own.
Cheers

OK so...
P0610 is "TCM Configuration Error" which will put the car in limp mode, with the prescribed action of re-flashing the TCM (Transmission Control Module) with IDS/SDD.
Question has to be asked, did they also try to re-flash the TCM? (doubtful from the time stated)
Given that the workshop manual actually says "re-flash the TCM" as first/only response to the code P0610, they have to try that before throwing parts at it.
You haven't specifically said if the Config E message is still there or not either.
The thing with the electronics in these cars, is that all the major modules need to recognise & talk to each other. If they re-flashed the ECU, then maybe it doesn't recognise the TCM anymore, so the TCM has to be re-flashed as well. It's kind of a cascading effect, you have to effectively re-program the entire car so all the modules talk together.

No message for Gearbox Fault ?
Try to get your hands on a little pocket scanner (I have one of these Autel MS309 CAN Diagnostic Scan Tool FOR Obdii Vehicles Code Reader UK Warranty | eBay) at least then you can check the codes yourself.
And have a read through this thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...c-fixed-67541/ (S-Type is the same driveline so very related, almost exactly the same problem that you have had)
If someone can speak English in the dealership, maybe print out a copy and give it to them.

Still gear box fault message on the dashboard ,
I ordered a creader 8 tool ( it must be able to read gearbox fault )
hope it will help
It seems the JLR mangoose can do reflash , but I don't know how it works , to reflash need to get the right files for the car , is it in the tool or available from internet connection ? and how to be sure to get the good files ?
thanks everybody for your help

All the files are with the SDD and you should get a copy with the Mongoose otherwise download v130 or 131
I have a patch for the latest version that im going to try this weekend
All the files for flashing are part of the SDD
The first thing it does is identify all the modules for your vin
Reflash is easy you just need to follow the on scree instructions
Its also recommended toy have a good battery voltage.
I connect up a switch mode power supply at 12.6 volts to the battery post when doing programming
If you do aseach there are some good threads on the mongoose / SDD
Cheers

JLR Mongoose
It seems Mangoose system works with a special code or password you need to buy ?
Some suppliers sells JLR Mangoose for cheap price ( ex below at 50€ )
JLR Mangoose V134 for Jaguar Land Rover OEM Diagnose Programming Interface
or quite expensive ( ex below at 430€ )
Product ID: DT-M-JLR
Mongoose JLR - Jaguar & Land Rover OEM Diagnostics & Programming
Maybe the cheaper offer is without software or without the password to make the programm working ?
Am I right ? , and what is really needed ?

There is a very long discussion thread about these devices here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...an-tool-66558/
The Mongoose at €430 will be a genuine one from Drewtech, the manufacturer.
The Mongoose at €50 will be a clone/copy/fake from a Chinese supplier.
Both work, but the clones can have issues, which have been discussed at length in that thread.
The software side of things is a bit complicated. Basically V134 can only be used with a subscription from JLR. You can buy subscriptions from 1 hour up to 1 year on a sliding cost scale. You need to register with the Topix site TOPIx - TOPIx in order to purchase subscriptions.
Last time I checked it was £185 for a 1-year diagnostics subscription for a specific model only (i.e. your car is an X350, so you can only do diagnostics on an X350).
Earlier versions of SDD up to V131.04 can be used offline without subscription. Login details for V129 and V130 are readily available, you should not pay someone for login details for those versions.

fault gearbox last news
Just recieved my C reader 8 diag tool in order to raead all fault code ( take more time than expected because of China golden week ! )
it seems there is really some communication or configuration issues
remaining code are still P0610 , but also U2202 and B2141
reading data stream of the gearbox , I notice that pressure regulator have not the same power cunsumtion ( 0,05 A for some and 0,85 A for only 2 of 6 ( in park , engine at idle ) , but maybe it is normal ?
I have also ordered a JLR mongoose to try to sort out this quite long issue before winter ( the XJ8 is my only winter car with winter tyres ! )

Hello ,
I got the JLR Mongoose from UODB2 , it came with 3 DVD ,
I will try to install on a laptop tomorrow
it seems working only on windows XP , did someone succed with Vista ?
Some forums info speaks of virus inside the files , is it true ?
As it is à V134 version , I will need to buy a licence from Topics to get it work ?
Thanks for your help

Don't worry about that main screen, it shows up identical for my XJR.
So to get you started:
Open a "Diagnostic Session" 2nd button from bottom right.
The SDD will scan the car, and ask you some questions.
Once that's done, go to the Symptoms Tab top left, and select your symptoms; Powertrain, Engine or Transmission (or both).
It will show you "Related Symptoms" as Trouble Codes, as well as all the codes in "Unrelated Symptoms"
You can see the suggestion actions in the "Recommendations" Tab.
In the related symptoms tab if you see any codes with 100% or a green bar then click on them for more information.
Have a play around with different symptoms, you will possibly get some different suggested actions. I'm curious as to what they might be right now. Most likely "Reprogram Generic Electronic Module" which will probably also incorporate reprogramming the ECU, Drivers Door Module, Instrument Cluster (i.e. security, so have all keys for the car available).
Or you will just get error messages saying "cannot communicate with so & so module" this happens a lot, is pretty much means the car needs a full reflash. I did this once on an X350 but it was more luck in finding the right symptom to kick off the complete process. I don't remember the details as I was freaking out at the time.
If you try this then be very careful, if the software crashes in the middle of reflashing a major module, the car can be completely immobilised (which is what happened to me, hence the freaking out).
Good luck with it. Maybe report back with screenshots of the trouble codes before you plunge in further.

I made a diag session , and with the related symphoms , it gives me the fault code I already knew
when I clic on the P0610 DTC , the suggestion is reflash TCM
I try to open a service function session in order to reflash the TCM
but the service session don't show the "selected systemes" as expected , but a "recommendations" ( same as diag session ) , when clicking on , the programm is stuck and nothing happen ( see attached files )
I don"t think it is related to the mongoose , but maybe from the software
I was thinking to be very near the solution to go back on the road , but not yet !
As long as I can't use the service session , I will not be able to go further

Daimler if you are using Chinese software it's probably NBG-that was my experience anyway.
I bought this:
Jaguar / Land Rover JLR IDS SDD v131.03 fully activated with login and password | eBay
and you need the driver which is available on the forum
("Cloned dealer scan tool " ) I think.
Worked in the end after much hair pulling.

You reflash the TCM from the Diagnostic session, after selecting your transmission symptoms (and the SDD scanning the car) the Recommendations tab will have the option to either program a new module, or reprogram an existing module.
EDIT
I just had a look through some of my old screenshots, yes it's definitely in a Diagnostic Session. If you have selected the transmission symptoms, then the step to reflash the TCM is under the Recommendations tab.
You have to do a Diagnostic session.

not succed to reflash TCM
I try to reflash TCM without success ,
What is strange is that with the symptoms related to limp home gerabox and engine + red and yellow light on , I got the fault code P0610 with incorrect TCM configuration loaded , and when I clic on the ? the windows tells that it need to reflash the TCM , but on the recommandations , only informations to read , nothing about TCM reflash
Is it possible to make a TCM reflash if it is not proposed by the SDD ?
Or is it possible the dealer was right , it came from a defect inside the gearbox ?
more news tomorrow , I will try again and again and again !

Check all the tabs after you have dobe the scan in the Diagnostic Session, the should also be an Extras tab and one for Service Functions (don't know what they world be in French)
As I recall there is also the option in one of those tabs to clear the transmission adaptations, and another to reflash the transmission. The more I think on it in sure it's in the Service Functions tab in a Diagnostic Session.
I never used V128, only V129 & V130. There might be some differences but I doubt it. I reflashed the TCM in two different X350's with a clone so it is possible.
