Default Cool things you learn about your x350/8

hi Gang, i was reading a similar thread on the F-type space and thought this could apply here as many are new to jaguar or x350/8 models.

I have had my Jag for 3 months and have found a few new things that I was unaware of when I purchased it. Mostly due to ignorance however.

But one thing I found to be really cool is was the global opening/closing feature. A friend of mine said he had that on his VW so not that unique, but my first experience with it.

Anyway, interested in others you have experience something new or unexpected on their car.

Cheers,

fab

I LOVE the rear fog lights. When it's raining or foggy they are much brighter than the regular tail lights so that folks can better see your Jag!

I too love the rear fig lights. It scares the crap out of those pesky tailgaters!

For me, it was the heated steering wheel. I bought my XJ8L because it had heated seats but I didn't know about the heated steering wheel. On cold days it's really nice.

I discovered the adaptive cruise control on the way home from Houston, Tx when an 18 wheeler cut in front of me and the car slowed down by itself - pretty cool.

I thought the folding mirror option was not working until I learned I had to press the lock button twice; Makes fitting a cover easier with the mirrors folded.

I like the puddle lights in the mirrors at night, and the power outlet in the glove compartment is nice too.

It's not an OEM feature, but I bought some 3/4" wide velcro at Wally World, punched a hole in the middle of each of three strips, and attached them to the boot liner with the OEM liner fasteners for an umbrella storage system.

I am still learning many of the features - I really need to read all of the downloaded owner's manuals or buy a set for reading while awaiting the wife in the grocery store.

I didn't know that the side mirrors are self-dimming as well as the rear view mirror.

Also, that tiny amber light up near the garage door buttons is for gently illuminating the console at night - something i didn't know i'd need, but makes sense now i know what it is.

I'm gonna go try that folding mirror thing!

It is a choice in the vehicle setup on my SV8 to enable the mirror folding.

Adaptive cruise control is way ahead of its time. That feature recently became available on Cadillac XTS, the prior model never had it.

Each fob can be set for different members of the family.

When I use my fob the seating moves to my preferred driving position. When my Girlie uses her fob, it automatically adjusts to her setting on unlocking and climbing in.

Cost was $7 for the roll of velcro at Wally World. Photos below. (and I've cleaned the boot liner since then)

I know its nothing major but since mine doesn't have a phone... you can push the voice command on the steering wheel to mute the radio which I like. Again maybe its nothing but on my Range Rover I cant because it has the voice command so I have to just hold the volume down until it lowers. I would prefer the voice command in the Jag but since I don't have it..... least this is a cool feature. Works when talking to family in the car also and just want it quiet immediately.

My favorite feature is the adaptive air suspension. Don't laugh, when it works this car is super smooth and handles very well for a big car.

That's a very Jaguar/British thing to say "when it works"

I use that phrase a lot with this car.

I have a 2004 xjr and on the left where the gas lid opener is is where the forward sensor is located. You can turn it off and on. I found it's ability when I had cruise control on and was coming up on a car and wondered why the car slowed down. It also has some display in the speedo area warning you as well.

On a slightly different note, found that when I had a wheel changed, one of the sensors( forget what they are called ,but they are in the wheel area) got tweaked by the mechanic at the tire shop, that the cruise control no longer worked. Once we went back in and tweaked it, all the cruise control and I think traction control worked again. I had a cruise control on an 99VP that didn't work that was traced to a bad clock spring.
