Yes, you read that right. I just returned from an extended trip, and the car has been parked untouched for at least a month, and not starting for several months.
So I had opened the driver's door and the trunk, closed them, and after a few minutes the engine cooling fan suddenly started up.
The funny thing is that I had removed the ECU before I left to inspect it for damage, as the car has been not starting. Many codes.

I disconnected the battery (I had charged it, but had forgotten to disconnect before the trip), and at least THAT kept more funny things from happening.
Could it be the fault of a (new) but somewhat weak battery? But maybe, hopefully, the solution could also point to my no-start problem as well.

The battery must have a minimum of 12.6 volts across the terminals for the vehicle to operate correctly. Check the voltage before and after charging overnight.

 

If the fan controller (mounted on the fan) does not get a PWM signal from the ECU it will turn on full
So with your ECU disconnected the fan will be on full
