Cost of 30K mile service on 04 XJR

Hello all,
It is time to have the 30K mile service performed on my 04 XJR. The local dealer quoted $665.00 for the work. Below is what supposedly is performed. Does this seem like a good price or should it be less? Has anyone else recently performed this service? I need to get it done this Friday so any quick answers would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS ROB

This is a very interesting list for service on an X350 @ 30K miles. Many of these items are duplicates or simply cannot be done on an X350.
If it were mine, I'd ask them to requote the service and to skip the following items as either repeats or not necessary on this car, or this car with this mileage:
4, 5, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 29.
How much then?

Sounds like BS to me. The trans fluid and diff fluids are for life and thats a Jaguar spec. How do you adjust brakes? I thought base idle was manged by the computer? 90% of the list is completed by turning the car on and looking for fault codes. Sorry, my $.02. I think they fluff the list to make it sould like a good value.

Drew,
That's why I edited the list. This dealer must have used this 30K service list back on the SIIIs and still hasn't updated it. Maybe it's just - "pay me $665 and forget about it!"
I especially like #29 - Sorry, but I expect friendly and excellent service free; or, discount the cost of the freindly service and treat me like $hit so I can save a little money.

Had a good chuckle with this one.
It was 17, 18 that got me, then later followed by 26.
17.
Computer spin balance front tires
18.
Rotate tires and adjust air pressure.
(so then they put the balanced fronts on the rear, or is it that where the tire was a bit flatter at the bottom it is now flatter at the top, due to rotation?)
And........later........26.
Perform visual alignment and inspect for irregular tire wear.

I have to say I am not sure about this $665 service. If I convert to UK £ it comes out at about £450. Now I DO know Jaguar main agents in the UK charge heriocally for service labour (£80 an hour and much more in London), so I suppoes it is down to the labour per hour rate, as materials would not be all that expensive.
In the end it comes down to trust and personal recommendation. For what it's worth, my last Rover 75 service was just over £200 = $300, by a local man that I trust, and he has not failed me yet.
Of course, I will have an XJ6 3 litre Sport from Saturday, (X350 model), and he will be servicing it, so I'll let y'all know how it pans out.

Rob,
All kidding aside (I know we've had a little fun with this list), there are two things to consider with a car of your age/mileage. It is low mileage for its age, so some of the service items mentioned you would want to have done, even though the mileage doesn't justify it. Many of the items are duplicates or just a waste of time on an X350.
For the price, there is always going to be Jaguar's price, then the ROW price for the same service (think of very high overhead+exclusive service capabilities like SDD). For $665 - AT THE DEALER, if they do the following, you probably are getting a fair deal; the ROW (indys) would probably be more like $400/$450:
1. Oil/Filter change
2. Replace fuel filter (age, not mileage)
3. Replace air filter (mileage + age)
4. Drain/Flush/Refill coolant system (age)
5. Inspect all hoses/serpentine belt (Age, extra if replacement is needed)
6. Replace spark plugs (Not needed until about 75K to 100K, but good deal if they'll do it with irridium plugs)
7. Test condition of battery (extra if batt needs replacement)
8. Computer spin balance ALL tires (DO NOT rotate uni-directional)
9. Flush and replace brake fluid (age, not mileage)
10. Inspect suspension components, alignment (extra if alignment is needed)
11. Friendly and Excellent service (FREE - sorry, couldn't help myself)
This would be a good list of things to do on an 04 with 30K miles and what I would do for about $400 - $450.

Concur, that is almost exactly what I had done at 50K for an '04 X350, again based on age not mileage:-
Oil/Filter change
Replace air filter
Drain/Flush/Refill coolant system
Flush and replace brake fluid
Inspect all hoses/serpentine belt
Test condition of battery (they topped it up as it is an older style one)
Cost was $450 all-in.
Serpentine belt was done earlier in the year due to squeal and the fuel filter was changed as part of a lter service that cured a hot start/stall issue. I'd also do an injector clean as that damned E85 is clogging up injectors according to my dealer. ALso had a brake job (at the dealer) front and rear pads only about a year before.
I'm going to push for trans oil change at 60K but the dealer is very reluctant to do this.
