Default Cruise control unit

Dear all,

I have problem with my cruise control unit as per attached picture below (2W93-9AA12-BE) after having an accident with a badger. So I need to change the unit. The price of a new one is very expensive.
Could you please be so kind and share information where to find Jaguar parts within Europe for human prices?

The car is XJR V8 4,2 SuperCharged 2004.

Many thanks and best regards
Joseph

OK Do you have any hint where such device can be found? Any Jagga website that you use to buy spare parts from?

I had an accident with a badger and the control unit is broken in the front. ACC doesn't work.

+1 try a junkyard.

Easily identified. Look for the adaptive control button in the lower control panel.

Also the XKR used the same module.

I believe it was changed out in the 2005 MY

I suddenly got the dreaded "Cruise Not Available" message about 60 days ago.
I could not clear it with my cheapo $60 code reader, so I went to my local mechanic who has a $6,000 code reader - which also could not diagnose or clear it.
I read up on potential causes in these here forums. Battery voltage, moisture in the unit, faulty grounding, etc.
And I read about how expensive the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) module is.
I found an OEM cruise module at Palm Beach Jaguar for about $2,000.
Used ones on ebay are $500 and up.
I never use cruise control. As I understand it, ACC was an "option" on these cars.
Therefore you would think it could be disabled or un-installed.

Eventually I took it to the dealer.
They were very accommodating and they thought they would be able to disable the cruise unit for me.
But first they wanted to go through all the precursors - checking fuses and grounds and voltage.
The battery was starting to go flat (6+ years old) - so I had them replace it.
As best they could determine, the unit itself had gone bad.

They tried to disable it, but in the end they could not do that.
Their quote for a new cruise unit was $3,400 + $400 to install and program.
We discussed a refurbished one.
They are willing to try to mate a refurbished unit to the car, but they said they cannot guarantee that it will work.
My sense is that they really did try everything they could.
They also did a thorough inspection of the whole car, and identified some things to "keep an eye on" - some of which i knew about, and some new.

In the end, I elected not to spend $3,800 on that right now while I ruminate on what to do.
The car is a 2004 XJR with 42,000 miles, and there's nothing else wrong with it.
That message is annoying, and would probably hurt resale value if i ever decide to sell it.

Anyone else replace their cruise module with an OEM unit or a used unit?

I did order one from US for $450 shipping included to Sweden. Based on Jag techichan, a used unit doesn't need any programming since it's already programmed with another car. So just the installation which I will do.
It might need a calibration though

Will update you with status as soon as I install it. USPS sent it last week.

Cheers
Joseph .

Sadly my main dealer could not manage to get my replacement used unit to work in the car ( a 2004 Super V8) , they tried for many hours but it would not link to the system. In the end I told them to give up, they even took the car on several long trips where one of the technicians drove it to and from work a couple of times. After another 6 months I took it to a local very good auto electrician to see if he could electronically remove it from the system to get rid of the warning light. They tried to no avail, then took the car to another person they knew who had an even more expensive set up, sadly he could not do it either. So here I am now a further 6 months on with a superb car in every way except it has the dreaded warning light on.
I am going to keep the car long term anyway so have decided to live with it, the car will probably only do less than 2000 miles a year anyway as it is not my main vehicle .
I wish you luck and hope you can get it sorted out.

I finally got relented and paid the dealership to replace it. $3,800 or so. No other way to take care of it.
