Cruise control unit
Dear all,
I have problem with my cruise control unit as per attached picture below (2W93-9AA12-BE) after having an accident with a badger. So I need to change the unit. The price of a new one is very expensive.
Could you please be so kind and share information where to find Jaguar parts within Europe for human prices?
The car is XJR V8 4,2 SuperCharged 2004.
Many thanks and best regards
Joseph

Easily identified. Look for the adaptive control button in the lower control panel.
Also the XKR used the same module.
I believe it was changed out in the 2005 MY

I suddenly got the dreaded "Cruise Not Available" message about 60 days ago.
I could not clear it with my cheapo $60 code reader, so I went to my local mechanic who has a $6,000 code reader - which also could not diagnose or clear it.
I read up on potential causes in these here forums. Battery voltage, moisture in the unit, faulty grounding, etc.
And I read about how expensive the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) module is.
I found an OEM cruise module at Palm Beach Jaguar for about $2,000.
Used ones on ebay are $500 and up.
I never use cruise control. As I understand it, ACC was an "option" on these cars.
Therefore you would think it could be disabled or un-installed.
Eventually I took it to the dealer.
They were very accommodating and they thought they would be able to disable the cruise unit for me.
But first they wanted to go through all the precursors - checking fuses and grounds and voltage.
The battery was starting to go flat (6+ years old) - so I had them replace it.
As best they could determine, the unit itself had gone bad.
They tried to disable it, but in the end they could not do that.
Their quote for a new cruise unit was $3,400 + $400 to install and program.
We discussed a refurbished one.
They are willing to try to mate a refurbished unit to the car, but they said they cannot guarantee that it will work.
My sense is that they really did try everything they could.
They also did a thorough inspection of the whole car, and identified some things to "keep an eye on" - some of which i knew about, and some new.
In the end, I elected not to spend $3,800 on that right now while I ruminate on what to do.
The car is a 2004 XJR with 42,000 miles, and there's nothing else wrong with it.
That message is annoying, and would probably hurt resale value if i ever decide to sell it.
Anyone else replace their cruise module with an OEM unit or a used unit?

It might need a calibration though
Will update you with status as soon as I install it. USPS sent it last week.
Cheers

I am going to keep the car long term anyway so have decided to live with it, the car will probably only do less than 2000 miles a year anyway as it is not my main vehicle .
I wish you luck and hope you can get it sorted out.
