Default Custom Intake Elbow for X350 XJR & Super V8

For those who don't frequent the S-Type forum, just wanted to show you the pics of Qwiketz' custom intake elbow fitted to my XJR;

Took about 30 minutes to fit in the end.

Been out for a drive, no error codes, and a brand new whine from the blower;

I'm afraid my **** dyno isn't sensitive enough to pick up a 10HP increase, but based on the results from the STR's i'm confident there is an improvement, it certainly feels more responsive.

I bought a new breather hose so I wouldn't have to cut up my existing one.
Cost £22.29 incl shipping from the UK, www.davidmanners.co.uk took 2 weeks and that was with the part on backorder.

Here's another one.

Russ is looking to make another production run, I can recommend this as a real bang for buck modification to our cars.

Dyno proven for at least a 10HP gain HERE

I suggest you get your name on the list

I wondered if that would fit and thus apply to our XJ as well, I've followed that development ever since Mafioso began his prototype. He'll get some interest from this area of the forum, I am sure of that. Me, well I'm happy with the status-quot right now on mine.

Cambo I am finding that that if I really push the XJ with the intake it seems to run out of steam like it can't get the exhaust out fast enough and the power drops of at the top of the rev range. I am thinking that a better exhaust system will help this. What do you think?

No no other mods yet (do have a list) don't get me wrong the car is very quick but the car feels like it wants more of something if you now what I mean is much more lively with the intake seems like I have improved the intake now I need to move down the drive train. Must say I must be careful as I could spoil this car if it is too quick and may take the fun out of Driving it. It's hard to keep it below 90 as is, which is not good here in the cop infested states.

I haven't done any exhaust mods to the XJR yet, so this is all theoretical.

A few things to consider;

1. Avos still has the original exhaust on his XKR, the only change was he replaced the stock cats with 200 cell jobs. That car makes >600HP so stock exhausts can't be that bad...
2. I've heard of several XJR's where the cats have blocked up, which obviously reduces power.
3. Stock exhaust manifolds are always a compromise.

My plan is to change the stock manifolds for the ones from the N/A cars, see here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...-2l-s-c-80560/ with 200 cell cats and also go for a bigger exhaust. My issue will be finding an exhaust that flows more, but isn't much louder than stock.

The STR boys have seen gains from changing just the exhaust. At the same time one XJR owner saw a massive gain by completely removing the cats & leaving the stock exhaust.

The question needs to be, will we get decent gains by changing the exhaust, and is it good value in $ per HP. For example, if a full exhaust sets you back $1500, and you pick up 25 HP, how does that stack up? worthwhile?

Here is one example where an exhaust only brought 10HP
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...-thread-79842/ I think with 200 cell cats & the better exhaust manifolds, 25HP at the wheels is optimistic.

I am running the exhaust on my car so have kind of come at this from the opposite angle, my main motivation for doing the exhaust first was so that i could release the lovely v8 sound that jaguar goes to such lengths to supress.

I did not have a before and after dyno done for the exhaust and as rightly stated the standard exhaust does flow very well indeed with a relatively straight run down the middle of the car bending to only twice before the back boxes (gone are the days of the x308 where the exhaust used to go over the back axle a very complex and inefficient shape! more changes of direction in an exhaust serve to impede its performance).

The one ive had made fits better has a slightly increased diameter and full mandrel bends and in t304 stainless. If anyone is interested in these im sure i could persuade the fabricators to take a pattern off mine and make some, mine was £800. The quality is second to none and ive used this company for over 10 years now for all my projects so can stand by their quality they also do alot of work with race teams in the UK so know thier stuff.

Back on point, i do believe the sport cat option would probably give similar results ie reducing a restriction and this is something i will be looking at in due course at the moment i love the sound (although virtually silent when cruising) when the loud pedal is pressed :-) best of both worlds.

Hi Robert apologies for delay in replying, the company that make the exhaust is Advanced Automotive Systems i have spoken to them and if i can get 5x people who are interested in an exhaust they will remove mine make a jig and produce them at the same price as i paid ie £800. International shipping is not a problem, watch out on the forum over the next couple of days as i will be posting photos ofthe exhaust and doing the obligatory youtube video so it can be heard. Check out my other thread on air intake there is a picture of their TIG welding (very good).

Cheers.
