Default Custom intake, No cel! check out the pics!

I finally nailed it! I don't get any error codes whatsoever and car runs great, I ve noticed it revs faster now, and according to my bluetooth scanner car is currently producing 314 horses, check out the photos and let me know what you guys think, also I put a filter on to the breather hose, lets hope it won't cause any problems.

I'm not usually a fan of these type of mods but you can't argue with success.
With your scanner can you tell at what point in the HP vs rpm curve you get the extra 14 ponies? I mean- can you see the increase coming on at 2000 rpm WOT or does it start to come in at the higher rpm levels?
Is it possible for you to post the curve/curves?

Yes, this would be most interesting. Also, what equipment are you using (where can I buy this bluetooth thing)?

Tarheal, if you think this is rice, you better not go in the S-Type forum!

I'm with Tarheal,... I'm usually not much into the intake mods; however, that really does look great. Is fresh air available from the front intake grills that will feed the intake cool air from the outside instead of warmer under-hood air?

Great job!!!

Guys thanks for the kind words! I'll be posting the parts list and some new photos tonight! I made a few changes, I'm just done and new setup got me 0.6 seconds, so my 0-60 times are better now!

Wow, it really cut off 0.6 seconds?? What was your horsepower reading before you did all this modification?

It was 297 I think, but I don't think this bluetooth adapter can be as accurate as a dyno, so unless we put the car on a dyno, we will never get the real results, also I'm moving back to Arlington, I ll see you soon haha

Also here is the latest version of my intake, I know it does not look as clean as the first one, but keep in mind that, the intake shield is temporary and I will be making a custom one soon to replace the shield I made from aluminum sheet and duct tape, also this is a cheaper setup than the first one, I'll post the list for the current intake also.

Here are the parts I've used;

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0018083A0
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BQ090O
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000630APQ
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BPUTQE
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000630AP6
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000N253HA

Total cost for this project is: $118.92

It's cheaper than Mina's intake, and you replace the stock intake pipe and get rid of the silencer

PS: The intake on the breather hose didn't cause any problems, in fact I enjoyed the noise it made, but some states have emission requirements and breather intakes are illegal to use, so I got rid of mine, the very first thing I noticed was you get 2-3 mpg more with the breather intake so you might wanna keep the breather intake like I did with my first setup. They cost 8-15 dollars, amazon has them.

PPS: Here are the temps of intake , please compare first and second setup with the heat shield (its not even a proper heat shield but anyway still works)

Note : When I recorded these it was 33 degrees (celsius) outside.

Before / After

Cold Start: 33 C / 33 C
IDLE after 45 mins: 75 C / 45 C
Cruising (45mph) 46 C / 32 C
Highway (75 mph) 39 C / 28 C

So as you can see the first setup has failed because it didn't have a heat shield, so it was not a cold air intake it was a warm air intake and like most our members on here tell each other those cold air intakes actually get warm air, and they are right, good thing about the box I spared for the intake is, it has two large holes for the cables, you will notice those holes when you remove the stock air box, if you seal it like i did, its gonna suck cold air from those holes, and don't get me wrong you can even see the asphalt through those holes but theres no way your intake can suck water through those holes unless you get in a lake with your car.

Also here are the bluetooth obd scanners you can buy, any of these should work fine, I have the XITECH one, its pretty decent, keep that in mind, you have to have an android phone with Torque app installed on it.

http://www.amazon.com/XITECH-BLUETOO...5755738&sr=8-1
http://www.amazon.com/Soliport-Bluet...5755738&sr=8-2
http://www.amazon.com/PLX-Devices-Ki...5755738&sr=8-6

Let me know if any of you guys need any help.

Also please don't think this is ricing your Jag, this mod will get you a few more horses and the V8 roar we all love

So how does Torque determine horsepower curves? Does it use engine diagnostics or does it use the accelerometer?

Ide like to know how you dont have an idle issue with the breather filter since just taking the oil fill cap loose creates a crackcase vacuum leak and rough idle

Jagmaster, old boy. We need those hp to rev curves. If this add'l hp is only available at 5000 rpm WOT than it's not going to be of much use to those of us who don't participate in drag racing.

If, however, you can show a significant hp increase starting at 1500 to 2000 rpm than it would be quite useful to those of us who seldom operate our cars anywhere near the red line.

It might use extrapolation of the data.

The key pieces would be fuel flow, and mixture from the 02 sensors.

There may be other modifiers and reference tables.

So, it might do an approximation of HP from the burn rate of the fuel.

Pretty sure the OP is still working things out here. But if the tape is the "final" version then I will be disappointed.
