Hey also Millben, I sent you an email long ago about the satellite radio kit for your car. Did you get it? Did you get the satellite radio installed?

It seems like since I bought my Harley I've become a chrome freak! I ordered the 18's in chrome. I could have gone bigger but felt 18 was large enough and is an improvement over the stock 17's I've got now. Check out my chrome V-Rod.

I talked to my parts guy and gave him the part numbers you gave me. He didn't know anything about the kit but looked up the numbers and said they were available for around 300 and some dollars. What he couldn't tell me was whether the parts were just for a bracket and installation materials or whether they included the actual radio as well. He is supposed to be checking on this with the distribuation center but he has not gotten back with me. I am wondering if the unit is like the picture below which I found on Autotrader.com? Also, do you know if the radio is included?

Nice H.D., definately chromed out.

Those Coventry wheels are going to look sharp. Assuming you can use your factory center caps.?.

They claim that OEM center caps will fit on these wheels. I have purchased one of the after market center discs for Jaguar to check out their quality and was quite impressed. If the diameter is correct I will use those. Otherwise I'll try to pick up the appropriate size from the parts department at the dealer. I should have the wheels by the first of the month.

Here's a pix of my new wheels. I hope the pix shows up ok, I had trouble retrieving it from photobucket. These are chrome 18" wheels from Discount Tire.

Looks sharp Millben. I like the way the wheels match the rest of the chrome on the car.

What size, and type of tires are those on there? Have you noticed much of a difference in the ride?

The ride actually seems to be a little better. The tires are BFG Force T/A 235 50 ZR18's. I popped one of the center caps off my wife's 2000 S and they fit perfectly in replacement of the generic caps on these wheels. I just ordered a set of them in black and chrome from Jaguar XP. That will really enhance the over all effect of these wheels. Thanks for the feed-back.

Here's what the Jaguar caps look like from Jaguar XP. they don't have the 3-D quality of the OEM wheels on my wife's S but they do enhance the look of the wheels.

I still like them over the aftermarket ones, nice add on there!

Just a suggestion, looks like those flashy rims really show off the brake calipers. I think a nice coat of shiny black high heat paint would look tight.

Yeh, I noticed the brakes myself. I wasn't sure what kind of paint to use or how to go about it without getting overspray around. Or would you simpy brush it on? Here's a new shot with the caps in front of the Ball Mansion (i.e. Ball Canning Company). It looks right at home in this setting!

Oh yah, definately good backdrop for that picture!

Regarding your paint, I got the aerosol kind from the autoparts store, have a small section for painting engine parts and such, called High Heat. The big caliper bracket (one not attached to the brake lines) unbolts and then you can pull the rotors off as well if you want to paint the hats/edges and these brackets away from the car. I taped up 90% of the rotor surface where the pads meet it, but left a little on the edge and on the inside edge as well, that way, when the pads are put on, they wear the paint off to a perfect seam...that way you don't have to do it. Make sense?

Then, put lots of tape and paper to protect everything but the caliper (with the pads removed) in the wheelwell, and you should be gravy! That is the way i did mine, and your caliper looks alot smaller than mine, so should be less to paint. update this thread if you end up doing it, k?

Hey David,

Very nice look! It has the same effect as the wheels on mine with the 5 spoke configuration. I think that is a very classic look on the XJ8. It is especially nice on the black cars like ours.
