Yes, Strutmasters will say their conversion won't go on the VPD, and I have spoken to their tech folks. They state that the coil conversion isn't for the VDP due to the weight of the car. The VDP weighs only 10 or 15 kg more than the XJ8 from what I have found, so a few pounds at each wheel isn't an issue. Mechanically, these cars are all the same (from what I know).

However, the Arnott sounds like it's a better option for the reason that you can send the old cores back to them on their dime and it seems theirs is for the VDP as well...I hope it's not ever needed in our case!

Any problems with the Arnott kit? Bilstein says they are inferior and asks $350 more for theirs'.

My last experience with used Jag parts will indeed be my last. Just not worth the hassle and worry that it's going to fail sooner than later. Basa, be aware of the ebay kit available to refurbish your compressor. Search for Bagpiping Andy and compressor kit. The same compressor is used in a number of other cars. Typically it's the piston seal that conks out.

Default silly

frankly, that is just clueless on strut masters if they think the regular suspension will not fit a VDP*. VDP was basically a well optioned regular xj8. I've seen the weights somewhere, but it was under a 200lb difference I believe (between a xj8 and the VDP).

Somebody there has not done their work at strut masters. The XJR would be different, as it has a sport suspension, firmer settings, lower etc.
That doesn't bode well for their coil over system imho.

*what they are saying is, that the extra weight of the VDP changes things that much? Having 4 people in the car with their luggage could easily be an extra 800 lbs. verses just a driver. Silly, or they spec'd shocks and springs so lame that they are on the edge of their ability weight wise.

I've been thinking of writing up a super thread of strut options, maybe I will, this question must come up once a day in this forum.

Anyone interested in a gently used Arnott front air strut? Has less than 10k on it. Looks and functions mint. I am going to the Arnot coil over conversation and I just spent $399 something on that...

PM me

I haven't bought it yet. You found another kit and they say Arnott is inferior?

The Bilstein strut is as supplied originally to Jaguar, so is an OEM replacement, but costs double the Arnott unit. However the shock is as-original so CATS remains in operation.
