Default Diagnostic Tool Options for 2004 XJR.

I know this is old ground but I'll have a go anyway, because after all my searching i still can't decide what to go for.

I have recently bought a 2004 XJR.
I picked it up for a reasonable price so i expect to be doing some work on it. My last car was a 1998 XJR and I found this forum a great source for tips and tricks helping me get that car Running like new.

However with all the tech upgrades Jaguar have introduced to my new car I'm thinking that investing in a diagnostics package would be a good idea.
I have done some looking around on this site and other sources and have kind of narrowed it down to three but they all have their pro's and con's...

________

MongooseProŽ Jaguar-Land Rover (JLR)

Drew Technologies : Introduction

my only real concern about this one is this statement on their webpage.

"Because of a recent and unexpected software change from Jaguar, independant repair shops in North America are now restricted to engine and transmission reprogramming only unless they buy a whole PC package from the JLR dealer equipment program."

Can anyone elaborate on this, as i live in Canada this is a concern. I have tried contacting them and have not had a response yet.

________

VCM IDS V83 V132 JLR

New Ford Rotunda Dealer IDS VCM V83 JLR V133 free shipping on AUOBD2

I have read that it is tricky to find a legitimate reader and software, and that the knock offs are hit or miss at best. I have not been able to find a relabel looking supplier, any thoughts?

________

Autoenginuity - with enhanced Jaguar pack

Jaguar (EI11)

I have read mixed reviews on Autoenginuity, some say it's a good tool but has model and year limitations, others have has issues with the wrong adapters and bad service.

________

Has anyone successfully used any of these diagnostic packs on a 2004 XJR?
Are there any better alternatives?

Thanks for any help,
Gareth.

You've narrowed it down to the three top end options. For in-depth discussions on the pros and cons, this thread in General Tech Help is the one:

I've got AutoEnginuity with the Jaguar Enhancement Pack and am seriously considering getting MongoosePro. Giving up further research on others in the interests of having some money left!
