Dilemma
After losing a co car in April, I purchased a 2006 XJ8 (swb) Slate on Dove leather with 54k miles that I LOVE. I work at a import dealership and we just took in a 2001 Vanden Plas Supercharged with only 31k miles- Anthracite on black. The car is a one owner garaged car in virtually perfect mechanical and cosmetic shape. I can probably swap cars and end up with $5k back. I like the handling/transmission/seat comfort/fuel economy of the '06 but the VDP is a rare opportunity and my kids love the back seat accomodations. Any opinons/considerations I might be missing? Both cars are in exceptional condition.

Hmmm... I don't think you'll miss much, but watch out for the issues surrounding the V8 engines in these cars. As a 2001, it will be a 4 litre and there is a serious issue around the upper camchain tensioners you should read up on. Apart from that, the other issues are of much less importance as I understand it. Fuel consumption will be more, but in the USA this is of less importance than here in the UK.
So go look around the X308 forum first, but bear in mind more people post when things go wrong, than when they are OK
