The dreaded P0328 on a 2004 XJ8 4.2L
I am trying to get my 2004 XJ8 smogged in California. BUT, the car is throwing a P0328 error.
Thanks to this forum, I have learned that my first step should be to make sure that the electrical connections are clean and making good contact.
I have been scouring the forums for instructions and images of a 2004 XJ8 Knock Sensor (KS) and its connector.
I have reviewed Jim Lombardi's excellent post at https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...t-1-2-a-76815/
...but, it is not the same engine. (His is also MUCH cleaner than mine, we'll get to that later)
Would anyone have an image showing where the KS is on a 2004 XJ8 4.2L?
Thanks!

The link referenced is for a 4.0 V8 engine. The knock sensors for a 4.2 are under the intake manifold. I revealed mine while replacing the cooling hose that runs under the manifold. In the picture the knock sensor for the LHS bank is in the center of the picture with the black lead. The RHS one is hidden under the insulation.
Intake manifold removal procedure is in the factory manual.
If you decide to remove the intake manifold, the following gaskets are recommended
AJ89062 Manifold Gaskets x2
AJ88560 Valve Gasket
"While you're in there" you might as well replace the coolant hose.
AJ811763 Coolant Hose
This is for a 2007 model XJ8 Normally Aspirated. . Others might confirm if its the same for a 2004 MY.
Intake manifold removed.

Go lean, go into pre-ignition territory, dawn of time to present day.

Erase code drive and see if it is coming back.
my code never came back. Spoke to a jaguar mecanic about it. There might have been a rattle knock .erase code and see. They rarely go bad. If the valley hose bursts and coolant reaches them they tend to go bad
In the valley below manifold . Change vslley hose and manifold gaskets as well.
