Default Driver door module failures.... Again...

Ok, so my wife likes to go outside and unlock the car before driving it... Lo and behold, the alarm goes bezerk, all key fobs lose programming and the car can only be opened with the key. Once you put it in the ignition, it shuts the alarm off, and the magical "config D" message appears.... I already know that's a DDM failure, and have attempted to reprogram it four times... Each time results in the system working about two weeks, than we start all over again. Anyhow, I am sure I need to replace it, but I am finding THREE different part numbers. All of them are a 2w9f-13c791-ae, or af, or ag... (Last two differ on them.). Jaguar shows only one number, and if I am correct, using Ford's numbering system, the AG part number is the latest release. However, in my car I have the AF version. Reason I ask, is I recently swapped in a set of vandenplas seats in a non vandenplas car, and had problems with the RCM part numbers being different and I was unable to reprogram them. Those modules also ended in AG. I wonder if AG suffixes represent vandenplas or xjr only options... If not, I'll get the AG version as it is super cheap!

My understanding is that the last two letters refers to a generation and as changes were made the two letters changed during the 2004 to 2009 model years.

For instance the key fabs have the generation letters after their part number (beginning with early year car to the later year car) AB, AD, AE, AF, AG, AJ.

I don't have a timeline to the generations unfortunately and probably the timeline is different depending on the part. If you recall your origional generation to your door module or look at another door module in your car, that would be the safest bet.

That's the problem.. The dealers only lists the later unit as the one for all cars now. So I am assuming that they interchange...

I can find a used AF version, 60 bucks..

I would also think they are interchangeable otherwise the part would be designated for certain vin ranges if there were variations that mattered.

That is an old topic but ...
Is "Config D" really a "Driver Door Module Failures"?

I have the information that
"Config DD" = Driver Door Control Module
"Config D" = Driver Seat Control Module

what is right ?
