Drivers Door Mirror not tilting when reversing
Hello
When selecting reverse, my passengers side mirror drops yet my drivers side doesnt.
Swapped the motors over and no change,
I know the the mirror tilt option is configurable but is it normally only one side that tilts? or should it be both?
My local mechanic said it was normal yet I thought when I test drove another XJ both tilted (albeit this was a Jap spec car where mine is UK spec so may be the reason).
Thanks

There is a list of convenience options that can be configured. Driver's mirror 'dip-in-reverse' CAN be enabled but it is NOT the default setting.
There are also Security/Locking, Safety and other features that are 'programmable'.
When I worked at the dealer I would try to get the customer that purchased the NEW CAR into the shop to get the features configured during PDI.
It is easier to get things all done at once instead of several trips to the dealer. Many people have different preferences. Some HATE the 'dip-in-reverse' and some want BOTH mirrors. Some HATE 'drive-away-locking' etc.
Find someone with PDU, WDS, IDS, SDD etc. to perform the configuration.
Here is a table from which to choose the options.

Motorcarman, I was thinking of the option check-off list as I was reading you post, then I saw the link. filled it out before I went to the dealer for other work. Made it so much easier for the tech. Also did it for my 06 RR That my wife drives. It really helped ME as I questioned her about what SHE wanted, and saved us all frustration. I did tweek her requests a little as some of her requests were just plain stupid. She never noticed my changes. But then she really doesn't pay much attention to what the car does. If she only knew what these cars do in the background, and what "normal" cars DON'T. I'm still amazed at what my 2006MY car can do considering the era/time frame. Jag was sooo far ahead of anyone with the x350. Even RR didn't have some of the features that the x350 had when produced.
