Default Early Christmas Present

Well, it looks like I might have a bit of a “problem.” My wife let me add a third cat to the stable. After much thought on whether to get a Series 3 or another x350, and after all of your help in my last thread about it, this thing came up for sale today. It was a great price and I couldn’t pass it up. 55,000 miles, dealer maintained, original older gentleman owner (he actually just passed and his son sold it). The interior needs deep cleaned badly, but the exterior only has one small ding on the door. Even the headliner is in incredible condition. The suspension bushings look to be in great shape. It is basically the same factory package as our other XJ (navigation with 18” wheels), with the added feature of a 6 disc changer, and in a different color. It is my least favorite Jaguar color, but I originally had plans to vinyl wrap whatever we bought, so color wasn’t an issue.

Here’s what I don’t like about it. I now have a comparison to the other XJ, and this new one rides so much better. Okay, maybe that’s not such a bad thing, but I thought our other XJ rode nice until I drove this. It showed me that:

Our older XJ is in need of suspension bushings, a transmission flush, and needs OEM front shocks (has Arnotts that have been very rattly their entire life). So it looks like I have my work cut out for me.

Just thought I’d share our new toy. We might end up selling the ‘vert and trading it out for a Series 3 down the road as a weekend toy. I just know after owning our first x350, it was been the most comfortable, reliable car we’ve ever owned at a bargain of a price.

Thanks for being such an awesome group of guys on a great forum. I’m looking forward to sticking around here for a while.

Oops, sorry, that may have been misleading. They are both MY 2004. Infact, the sticker indicates they were both manufactured in the same month. I should have stated “new to us.”

Our blue XJ has around 85,000, so this new to us XJ is still younger in miles.

Also realized after the pictures my hood stop needed adjusting down as it was letting the passenger side hood pop upwards. Fixed now.

Here’s a few more pictures. Took a bit of elbow grease, and I ran out of daylight so I didn’t get finished pictures, but you can see in one picture the clean back seat versus the very dirty front seat after I had cleaned the back. Lots of Meguiars APC, a brush, microfibers, and a steamer took it out.

I like the Jaguar branded rubber floor mats and trunk tray that the car came with.

It looks like the PO tried to wipe things down inside, evident of Jaguar branded leather conditioner and screen cleaner, along with towels. He just needed a deeper cleaning than he was giving.

The car also came with a small Jaguar labeled cases with extra fuses and bulbs inside. I’d never seen one. Neither of our other Jaguars came with one.
