Hi, I own a 2008 Jaguar X type but unfortunately I can't use it.
I have a problem with the ECU, 7x43-12a650-ab. Water managed to attack the plug which caused a number of pins to drop out and now the car is unable to start. I bought a second hand replacement to have it reprogrammed but the Jaguar specialist told me he was unable to recode it due to security restrictions. Is there anywhere I can have the old ECU repaired or the replacement wiped so that it can be coded? I have only had the car 6 months and really need help getting it back on the road. Thanks, James

Have a look at the above thread. Not the same year as your car however problem is the same. Not good news tho.

Posting to where folks have the same vehicle can increase your odds of getting a helpful reply. While your issue is generic, you never stated how the ECU pins got wet. If it is an issue that occurs more frequently in an X-Type, readers of that thread that have experienced the issue could provide a source for your ECU repair.
