Electric exterior mirror folding problem

Hi,
I have a question regarding the erratic folding of the exterior mirror on the passenger side of my 2006 X350 (XJ4.2liter V8 Sovereign) Jag.
Folding in when locking the car only works if I help it a little (folding out again works ok). I have tried using wd40 to get it going but apparently there is still some resistance to make it stop after a little attempt to turn.
Can someone advise me what I should do to solve or repair it ?
In case I would need to dismantle the mirror I would need some instructions how to do that ...
Regards,
Rob

I had the same problem with my driver's side mirror. It was the motor that had gone bad. Mine was still under warranty so I did not dig into it myself. If I gave it just a little push while folding, it would go in. I also needed to help it back out. If I did not help, the mirror would only fold in about half way and then make a clicking noise.

I had problems with both of mine. It was a case of stripping down the mirror casing from the car body and removing any old dirt/grease and corrosion from the soft metal movement. Three torx screws hold on the mirror, thy are TIGHT and probably somewhat corroded. One of mine rounded off, so I had to drill it out. Well worth the time and effort though.
