I have a 2006 VDP with 45000 miles. Recently the check engine light came on so I took it to the dealer to diagnose. They told me that the battery did not have much power, and had to hook it up to a charger in order to get the codes for the check engine light and suggested I have a new battery installed for $310.00. I declined and when I got home I tested the battery under load the battery was excellent.
After driving the car around the next day had to run an errand. Opened the door and the car was absolutely dead, no interior lights, turned the key and it would not make a sound or even try to turn over.
Jumped into my other vehicle and ran the errand. Upon returning went to load test the battery and all was well, interior lights on, car started right up. The message center asked me to hold my foot on the brake pedal and activate the emergency brake. I tested the battery again and it tested excellent.
Have had no problems since except I have noticed that:
1. telephone nav screen states handset in use, sometimes communication errors but phone and blue tooth still works but its functioning has problems and sometimes drops calls.
2. when changing radio stations using the steering wheel controls, the stations change but they do not change on the nav screen.
3. when nav screen off, does not show my turning the volume up or down or change of stations as it used to but remains blank.
Went to Interstate Battery Store (same battery for $168.00) where they ran battery and charging test and all results were excellent.
Has anybody here experienced this kind of occurrences and might be able to suggest what is going on with my car?
Thanks,
brdave

IF you still are using the original battery, chances are you have cells going bad. IT needs to be changed. These cars are very sensitive to voltage & current fluctuations.
The closest Jag dealer here uses Interstate batteries. There are 2 models that are exact replacements with the only difference being cranking amps. I went with the MTP-93 for $115.

Yes, the colder it gets the higher the amperage needed as cold weather lowers the CCA. Having more than you need is never a bad thing, and from what I understand the battery will last longer as CCA diminishes with age. Reserve capacity is also another important factor to consider, especially with these cars.
