Default Electrical Gremlin Help..weird one!

Hello. Seeing if anyone might have a clue on this issue. All the buttons on this row (heated seats / valet / hazard / door lock) all seem to be "sucked in" like they have been depressed but won't release. They all seem to go to different relays or are separate systems, so am at a loss why all are out. Checked all fuses, relays etc. I have the wiring diagrams, checked everything i could. One other thing ( maybe not related) but my driver door mirror stopped also. I changed mirror motor and switch in door from donor car, no change. Thoughts?

Hi Jammin02,

If the model in your signature is the vehicle you are posting about then it looks like you mistakenly posted in the X350 forum, not the X-Type forum.
To reach your target audience (members), either ask a moderator to see if they can shift your post over to the correct forum, or repost on the X-Type forum.

I currently have both models, so I will have a look at the schematics of the 2002 X-Type to see if there are any clues that jump out for the symptoms you have .

Thanks for clarifying that ......I'll close the 2002 X-Type schematic and start looking at the 2004 XJ8 schematics shortly.
But right off the bat.....you might be looking at earthing problems as the earthing points on the aluminium body have been attributed to may bizarre faults on our cars.
The earthing point lugs can become brittle and it is not uncommon for them to break away when touched.
Many members have posted their experiences with such issues.

OK, I would suggest you do check you have good grounding terminals particularly G9, G15 and G31 (LHD).
G9 features quite commonly to various features that path through the drivers door module and front electronics module, so would be the best place to start for you.

G9 earthing stud is located on the upper portion of the left A pillar and has multiple lugs and connections terminating under it.
If removing to clean connections, note the order of the connections as their stacking order can be a bit critical. (certainly been pointed out many times on the X-Type)
G15 is located RHS of transmission tunnel
G31 is behind passenger side airbag.
