replaced brake pads and rotors and emergency brake fails, followed brake seqences then locked up rear wheel disengaged/compressed rear right caliper piston and took fuse out - parking brake at fault with beeping sound when moving - brakes work fine
2009 xj8 - tried to reset emergency brake two times and the third time lock up right rear wheel using the owners manual so I proceeded to reset caliper brakes work fine however no emergency brake how do I recalibrate/ or change motor that pulls cables to engage rear calipers
If I remember right, the fault light is on because the EPB motor itself has a sensor as to how far and how much resistance it should feel when engaged. I don't know why only one side would lock up.
Did you perhaps remove and forget to reseat the bung that fastens the brake cable in its bracket? This tan/ off-white thing.
If all checks out, I'd try to engage and disengage the parking brake by bypassing the module and trying to reset inside the car.
This video might be of some help to you:
I have already viewed this video before I brought this emergency brake issue with the forum however my vehicle is a 2009 XJ not a 2005 and could not find this module with proper wire arrangement - is there a way to turnoff /disconnect this repeated bonging sound while driving. Hopefully you have a solution to this dilemma. Thanks in advance to your reply/solution.
