EPB issues.

EPB issues.
ok, this is a good one.
Firstly......does anyone know of any parking brake fault that will stop the engine from cranking, ....... methinks there isn't one but who knows with these temperamental cars.
Now onto my main issue........I changed the parking brake cables , I managed to use the icarsoft to release the rear brakes, about the only thing I can actually do with that useless tool.......and I changed both cables........I recalibrated the brakes but I think I missed something........Im thinking that to get the brakes to reset as instructed by the car, they have to be in a certain position first.........ie, screw the screwy thing so the pads are at a certain point and then get them to recalibrate from inside the car.......its basically not resetting itself. Ive got a parking brake light and Ive managed to fool the brakes so I can drive it......I can get rid of the fault with a hard reset but it does come back.......one of the codes im getting is that the actuator motor is not moving enough which is what is giving me the idea that it needs a starting point before I do the in car thing........
whilst we are at it.........starting motor......sometimes it starts other times it doesn't......it happened a lot in the summer and then suddenly stopped....but now its come back........car will start but sometimes it does not....I hear the click but no start........ive reset fault codes , and it would start......ive done a hard reset and it will start......but now its stopped doing that........now when it does it again I get another battery , turn car on and hit the two connections on the starter and it started....not physically hit with a hammer like what used to start a car back in the day, but hit it with the positive from battery.....after that car will start a few more times randomly and then suddenly not start.......so......motor or relay........?????...im assuming the solenoid is ok and comes with a new starter motor anyway.........im getting fed up with buying parts and finding the fault still there......although I am building up a nice little stock of spare parts........for the future......now I know why many Jags "come with some new spare parts"
Any ideas guys.....oh....Im aware of the ground start issue.........Ill check that when I can get under car if I end up changing the starter motor......and on that topic....the hard to get bolt is 13 mm ?????...cresent wrench I know......but I aint buying a full set of cresent wrenches.....

Im not dismissing a bad ground but nothing is melting, the brakes work, just the back ones are not playing nice......I looked at them again on the weekend and I think I need to adjust the adjuster. After a drive the rear brakes are cool, not hot.
I think I have two different issues going on here..........gonna change the starter anyway to eliminate that.....!50K miles and its the original starter.
I noticed yesterday that the routing of the handbrake cables is not the way Jaguar did them....that was my decision, I saw where the cables had chaffed and went the opposite way round what was chaffing them......now I'll reroute them back around the sharp piece of metal that chaffed them and readjust......that should do it.
