Fair Value for 2005 XJ8 Vanden Plas w/optional features
I am considering a 2005 XJ8 Vanden Plas w/76.5K miles (not pictured). It has upgraded features including navigation, rear entertainment package, front parking assist, chrome plated 19” rims. It has had no reported accidents and is a one owner vehicle. There are no maintenance records, but I would order a pre-purchase inspection. It could get it for $10.750K plus $260 dealer prep plus $700 shipping, ~$11.7K total delivered.
@$10.750K it is priced above KBB and NADA. (I have negotiated about $800 offer it’s original offered price.) I understand that the premium features only have value if they are meaningful to the purchaser. Of course, a results of the pre-purchase inspection could uphold the price, cause a further discounting, or kill the deal.
No doubt, the vehicle looks great, but naturally future, possibly near-term, post-purchase expense must be considered. The PPI should shed light on this. I haven’t seen many with this package. But, again, it depends on the value of these extras to the purchaser.
Just need a little help to push me either way. In your opinion, is this a fair/good deal?

No maintenance records at all ? This alone should make you cautious as normally at least the service stamps in the Owner Handbook are available. Have you inspected the car personally, and gone for a test ride ? I would not buy 'sight-unseen' at that price. However mileage is not huge but at the level when work is normally needed on things that don't flag-up faults, like suspension bushes, and balljoint boots
Look for crevice corrosion on the leading edge of the trunk lid, especially on the inside edge, and also bubbling from the rear lower screen seal.
Tread carefully !

$10K seems high. Be patient and you will find good deal out there for much less. Be ready to shell couple thousands plus dollars to replace air shocks and suspension parts. I bought 2004 XJ8 with 34K miles (not Vanden Plas but with almost all option) included) for $8,500.00 last year and another 2004 XJ8 with 47K miles for $6500.00 three year ago. You will definitely will have air shock issue especially in NJ winter.

Price seems high to me as well;
Condition does play a part in the price, my 07 V D P had 97,400 miles, in overall good shape, from a used car dealer, out the door for $9,000.
Have had normal wear & tear items to replace, but this type of cars form of abuse, seems to be basic lack of care.

Never liked a white car till i bought a used one, good deals are not always in your color of choice.
That said, car was not as hot in summer, & always looked reasonably clean.
Some feat as i have not hand washed a car in decades, pressure wash is about the extent of my washing to this day.
Been my color of choice for 45+ years, wonder why???
Both Jaguars are white, & they always look great, especially after running in a heavy rain shower for several miles.
