Default Front cigarette lighter element not heating

My cigarette lighter element does not stay pressed in in order to heat. It simply pops back out. I've had this issue with other cars thanks to phone chargers and radar detectors. Can I fix this myself or does the whole socket need to be replaced?

Why would you need a cigarette lighter? Please don't tell me you smoke in a Jaguar!!

smoking ... one of lifes little pleasures

Jaguars used to come with ashtrays suitable for cigars. Sadly, that has ceased to be the case.

A broken cigarette lighter is of no concern, just park a gunmetal finished Ronson Blue Flame on the console ... or carry a Dunhill.
