Default Front left height sensor showing erroneous data

2004 XJR, I replaced the front left strut with an Arnott replacement. After installation, I started the car to check for issues. Everything went well except the front end never stopped going up until it reached maximum height. When I checked the readout, the front left height sensor was showing -4.88 inches. Where should I begin trying to sort this issue out. Where can I locate the front height sensor?
Thanks in advance,
HJ

Check the height sensor. There is a good chance that you broke the height sensor pivot arm when you extend the control arm to install the air strut. My did the same thing couple years ago.

Immediately after posting I was finally able to download the manual and located the sensor. That was a real timesaver, I popped the wheel off and immediately saw the problem. However I did need to bleed the air from the front to get the struts to level out with the back. The rod had pulled out from the sensor and I epoxied it back in place and the world was set right again. Thanks for your reply, and yes it was the lever arm disconnected.

Thanks for the post. I may have a similar issue. My front end (2005 XJ8L) is low, sometimes giving a "vehicle too low" message. Everything else is fine (rear height, compressor, etc,). Even when the warning goes away the front end rides lower than it should. I suspect the front ride sensor and plan on attacking it shortly. I was curious about your comment: "I did need to bleed the air from the front to get the struts to level out with the back". Could you give some detail about how you did this, as I have little experience with this procedure. Thanks...Alan.

Here are two methods.

1. Connect up shock electrically. Lower the arm. This should bleed off your pressure in the strut.
2. Th fitting the airline screws into can be backed off. This will bled air from strut.

I have only done the fitting with the Bilstein struts on my Audi A8. But the fitting looks the same.
