Front passenger window problem

Front passenger window problem
Yesterday, I had all the windows and the roof open. When I tried the all-in-one closing feature with the door key, the passenger side front window would not close. Today, I got it to close in increments of about 2in by repeatedly disconnecting the battery and reconnecting. After maybe 5 times of reconnecting the battery, getting the window to close a couple of inches more each time and then disconnecting, I got the window fully shut. Playing around with it a bit, if I attempt to open it, it will go down a couple of inches and then stop. I then have to disconnect the battery to close it again. Does anyone have a suggestion of how to get the window working properly again? It seems like this might be a switch or electronic module issue??
Thanks
Paul.

Surprisingly, since i live in upstate NY, the cables are not in bad conditiion. It did take a bit of a heave though to push the window up manually, which improved a bit after dousing the runners and cables with silicon spray. I'm into it now, so I'm going to get a beer and see if I can do anything with the motor, which I think may be the culprit in this case. Thanks!

Just to finish up this thread, I got my ebay window regulator, which originated from a car with around 66,000 miles - about 95k less than mine! It was a pretty easy fit and I gave the moving parts a good shot of silicon spray before I closed everything up. The window now works well. Thanks to everyone who provided advice on this.
