Fuel Gauge quit working

Anyone had this happen? I suddenly noticed it was on zero with no reserve. Went to the station, put in 6 gallons to fill the tank and set Trip A. I tend to average 24-26 mpg, so I plan to keep an eye on it that way, but what a pain. Everything else seems to work.
Anyone had this problem? What do you recommend? It holds 20 gallons so I should be safe on 400 miles between tanks right? Your help is appreciated.

As I understand it, the X350 XJ's have two redundant fuel pumps, and when one of them fails, it will exhibit the behavior you describe. Check for this first.
As much as of a pain seeing Empty on the fuel gauge may be, imagine how much more of a pain it would be if you only had one fuel pump and that failed!
Eric

There are also a couple of small jet pumps though which are used to move fuel over the hump of the saddle in the fuel tank.
