Default Gearbox Fault 2004 XJR

I just cannot seem to catch a break with this car. While my shop was waiting on some parts for me, I was driving around and got the gearbox fault warning and the car would not shift out of first gear. While the tranny was leaking and we are going to exchange the fluid, this happened a day after going tongue shop for a diagnostic. Code is p0370.

I have heard numerous people on threads mention things to check such as hoses, a few bolts on the drivers side of the transmission, computer resets and the like. Has anyone else had this same problem and what was your Fix, if any? Thanks.

Do you mean P0730 ? That's a gearbox fault code. (Can't find a P0370).

I would think so, 700 codes are trans related. 300's are timing.

Put your shifter in the manual position #5 and see if it shifts. Not coming out of first could be a shifter cable adjustment. As for the P0730 when was the fluid and filter changed? I would have that done first! When the pan is dropped look for shavings.

Gus, never heard of that before, hopefully I don't have to deal with this again, but if I do, I will. I ended up changing the fluid/pan/filter. Was not cheap at all, but they didn't find any shavings, drove it around, and said it drives very nice now. I'll be picking it up in the morning!
