Gearbox fault and Restrictive performance...need help
I started my 05 Super V8 today and to my suprise i had the Gearbox fault and Restrictive performance message along with the yellow light appear on my dash. as well as the yellow check engine icon.
I decided not to drive the car. i just turned it off. i waited about 45 minutes and still same error codes after starting up.
What does this mean? What do i need to do? is it safe to drive to my dealer?
I did change my connecter sleeve about 3 weeks ago. had my ECm and TCm done on Aug 15 2012 , this was for recall J2004.
Looking for all your fine advice.

JUst a follow up to thread, after a 2 hour period, i decided to disconnect the battery, which is less than 2 years old, and re connected it after 2 minutes.
Started the car let it warm up to the normal ride temperature.I shifted the tranny to neutral ,drive and reverse. The GEARBOX FAULT message is now gone, but the Check engine icon is always on.
I hope these extra details will help to diagnose the problem here.

Yellow light = car driveable, but get check done as soon as possible
Red light = do not drive car, get it recovered to a Jaguar agent or expert.
I think I had something similar to you and a TCM reflash cured it. Have you had any rough gear changes recently ?
If you can get the codes read off, please do so and post here.

UPDATE!
I brought my car to jag dealer and this is the scoop:
-received codes P1643 and P1797
-notice some leakage near the recently replaced sealing sleeve by a neighbourhood mechanic.
-no bent or pushed in pins.
-using ssd re-calibrated TCM and ECU.
-tranny oil level was low and lots of air trapped inside.
-re-bleed and properly filled up oil. ( 1 liter was missing).
-deleted DTC codes.
-road tested car, all was well, put car back on lift no apperant leaks. codes disappeared.
Therefore am happy this is all that was needed. the moral of this story i guess is that some stuff is better left to Jaguar dealers that have the right equipment to perform these jobs.
Will keep you all updated if any changes,,cross my fingers!
