Question GEM module location?

I cam home with no problems yesterday evening. Today after starting the car the windows wouldn't go down. The sunroof wouldn't open and the front turn signals and headlights are not coming on. The lights in the rear all work including the hazards. Nothing up front though. I asked a mechanic I know and he suggested a Fuze or GEM module. Any ideas? It's a 2005 Jaguar Vanden Plas v8 4.2L if that helps. Thanks for your help everyone.

The Electrical Guide has ALL the module pin-outs and Module location.

S_2005_XJ_09_04.pdf is the title to the 2005 X350 Electrical Guide.
I cannot post it as a .pdf because it is slightly larger than 5MB and the limit is 5MB

Gus should have it on his site.

Control Module Locations are on Page 23.

I think you're looking for the Front Electronic Module. That is behind the driver side kick panel.

The sunroof and windows are controlled by the Driver's Door Module via the FEM. The front lights are controlled by the FEM (from Switch through Instrument Cluster to FEM). The rear vehicle lights are from the Rear Electronics Module (from Switch through IP to REM)

So it does appear there may be some logic to the FEM being the common issue with these problems. Do the wipers work? Pedal adjustments? Mirror adjusts?

The link to the electrical diagrams is in the sticky thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...k-links-20085/

M HAMILTON thanks for the info. My wipers, pedal adjustment and passenger side mirror don't work. Strangely enough, the driver side mirror does work. I called my "local" dealer (84 miles away) and told them the symptoms and they recommend checking the battery to see if it's weak. Could be since I bought the car used 2 years ago and the battery hasn't been changed since. Not sure how old it is. I'll pull it this weekend and have it tested. Thanks again for your help and advice!

These cars can have a lot of issues when the battery is weak. You should be able to test for that. I think it's a bit of a long shot, but you can also try disconnecting the battery, waiting a few minutes, and reconnecting. It should reset the modules.

Barring that, you'll need to read the stored error codes and see where the problem has occurred. I'm not 100% sure, but a new or used FEM will need to programmed to the vehicle.
