German VACM - eBay haste
Ok.
After adding voice to the sv8, I wanted to add it to the other car.
In ebay haste, I purchased a German ACM.
I have read on here that this MAY be able to be flashed to UK / US English.
Seller will not accept a return, so it's mine...
Has anyone performed this flash, have advice (or want to give it a go trying to flash this unit)?
Thanks- Mag

I'd give it a reflash with SDD
Part of the Flash process is the firmware (software) and the rest is the module config (settings)
SDD is programmed with all the vin's and uses this to create the config that is uploaded.
It will upload maket data (in your case UK) to the module
I cant see how it would be german specific as JEPC shows not specific module for Germany. So im guessing its all in the uploaded config
It wont hurt to flash the module
Cheers

Voice activation control module
Australia - C2C24429
Canada - XR849645
France - C2C24427
Germany - C2C24425
Ireland - C2C24424
Italy - C2C24426
Spain - C2C24428
UK - C2C24424
USA - XR849645
Still wouldn't hurt to try flashing it though.

I'm not sure it as straight forward as "just flash it" because it might just reload the German language to the module. If so there is a way around it but without having the module in front of me and my own car to test is hard to say exactly.
Worth a shot either way, let us know, worst case send it to me & I'll try it.

Off the top of my head I couldn't tell you. The last time I played with those functions was 3 years ago when I changed the radio setup from North America to Europe (bought a CD-radio from a wrecked US car to replace my tape player), it's buried away in there, I think in "add/remove dealer options" ? could be somewhere else though...

From memory its under the dealer options

Customer Driven Preferences
The second type of configuration data is customer preference driven.
These are items that the customer may or may not want to have enabled. Typically, customer preference items can be toggled on or off by the use of a compatible scan tool.
You may need to ask the customer which preferences they had enabled prior to installation of the new module, although after installation they will automatically learn the settings by receiving information from existing modules.
To carry out the customer configuration process, use the Jaguar Approved Diagnostic System.
Refer to the Dealer Options Index for modules on the vehicle that have customer preference items.
Configure the items as needed.Modules which can be configured with dealer options are:
The FEM.
The instrument cluster and message centre
.TCM (market configuration).
ECM (market configuration).
Intrusion sensor module.
Multifunction voice activated control module (market configuration).
Audio unit (market configuration)
************************************************** ***********
As I read it it will update the module for your market, based on your VIN
My JEPC shows dealer programmed modules or pre programmed (higher price) so I expect the flash to update it to your market data (which would change the preprogrammed part number)
Cheers
