Default going to aftermarket rims - question

I ay be pulling the trigger on some 19" Coventry whitleys for my 05 super v8. is there a TPMS system on our cars? if so I will most likely use the opportunity to replace them since im at 118k miles. is there a good source for these?
thanks

AFAIK there are no TPMS sensors on the x350's, they began installing them in the x358.

I confirm.
On my 2006 MY Super V8 there are no TPMS either.

You're right, the Daimler's (in Europe, dunno for the VdP's in the US) have the TPMS.
The Daimler brand was reintroduced in 2006 to follow-up the Super V8 Portfolio 2006 X350 (only produced on a limited basis end 2005 and early 2006).
Actually the Daimler took over most of the features of the Portfolio SV8, this one being kind of proto of the Daimler, adding a few other features such as the TPMS, albeit loosing others such as the power vents.

Well, technically I guess it would be possible, but it would be a major rewire including new instrument cluster, etc. Really not worth it.

My American Spec 06 SV8 has TPMS. It reminds me every 4 months on the front right tire.

Interesting.
Maybe similar to the European Daimler's that were produced in 2006.
Could you tell us when yours was produced?

An easy way to tell is disconnect the bottom end of the inner plastic wheel well. You should then be able to pull the wheel well toward the tire. If you have TPMS, you will see a oval 4" by 3" antenna mounted inside the bumper. Bottom of wheel well is secured with three torx screws.

I guess TPMS was introduced on big technical update for X350 with VINs starting from H0.. next year they just updated exterior and interior features a little, and start calling it X358

Went in to get the winter tires on my 06 VDP, on a new set of wheels. Found out 06 Vanden Plas at least does have sensors. Now back to the drawing board and more waiting.

For the benefit of all, you can tell your vehicle has TPMS or not, by turning the ignition key, if you see the TPMS signage/light, sort of like this: (!) then your vehicle does have it. Now, I feel dumb, not knowing it myself

Must be a US Spec thing. Everyone in the US seems to have TPMS.

It's been required by law here for all cars after 2007 to have this feature so it's likely that at a certain point before then that Jaguar found it beneficial to install it in all cars since they eventually would have to due to the law.

To the OP, does your car have TPMS? Easy to tell, when you turn the key before cranking the engine you will see a symbol like this (!), my 04 XJ8 is without. Also, most TPMS based systems use a metal valve stem, not rubber. If equipped the OEM supplier was/is VDO, aftermarket replacements available from several makers including VDO. Try looking on Rock Auto .com.

My '06 XJ-L has TPMS. When replacing tires I went 10mm wider (which also increased height) and system still works perfectly.
