Default Grinding Noise on Cold Start (Video Attached) 2004 XJ8

I've attached a video of the noise it makes when I turn the car on before work. It also makes it sometimes while I'm driving but only for a split second when it does. It is coming from the passenger side, near the front passenger wheel. Your help is appreciated!

I don't know but could it be a loose heat shield over the exhaust. My Wife’s Jeep made such a noise and that is what it turned out to be on hers. I took it off, tightened up the rivets and the noise was gone.

That sounds like sheet steel "ringing" due to slight loosnes of fasteners, and vibration from the engine.

You need to check for loose nuts or bolts somewhere in the exhaust system, where there are heat shields or similar items. This can be a bit of a "Mare's Nest" job.

I had a similar noise on my '04 XJ8, turned out to be a loose heat shield underneath. I removed it because there was no way to tighten it up, the noise went away. I would certainly look there first.

Would it only make the noise in the morning on a cold start or would it make it every time you drove it?

The noise in the Jeep was worse when you first started it up. As the car warmed up the noise seemed to subside a little and was not so pronounced.

My car made it whenever the engine was running. When I got underneath to take a look, the heat sheld was very loose.

Found out it was the heat shield on the passenger side that was loose and hitting the exhaust. Secured it with a self tapping screw and the noise is gone.
