Default Gurgling water sounds from behind the dash

Lately I've noticed liquid gurgling/bubbling sounds coming from behind the dash when I turn off the engine after a long drive (~30 miles). Is there something wrong with the coolant system or the radiator? The car appears to run normal and there are no warning lights.

Cheers,
Wolfy

Default Is it humid inside the car after being parked?

The problem soundalike a plugged drain on the AC. The evaporator coil drainage will bubble and gurgle if the line is plugged.

That's possible, cuz my A/C is always on. I'll get it checked out when I bring it in for service next month.

Cheers,

Default Easy to check.

Next time you drive it look under for water dripping. If driven more than a couple miles there should be water dripping for 10-15 minutes on the passenger side.
Then get to drain to blow out debris.

Dear Panelhead

Do you know how we could unplug the drainage? Mine did the same thing for a while previously, but it has stopped now. However I noticed a fowl poo-like smell coming out of the centre vents.

I saw the other threat about the foul smell and clogged up drain pipes, and am now convinced that the bubbles and foul smell are all linked to the issue of clogged up pipes. In that case, is there's a simpler DIY way I could unplug the drain pipe?

Looking forward to forumisters' advice.

Fixed.

Turns out to be low coolant due to a leaking expansion tank... a $215 job.

I'm surprised you had no low coolant warning. On my car I had lost about 1/2 pint and got the warning message. Are you sure you have the X350 saloon ? What year is the car ?

Yes I got the "Low Engine Coolant" warning that's how I found out the 2 issues were related. Initially I thought the gurgling sound was from a plugged a/c.

I had the A/C drain snaked also for good measure.

All this time, I've thought that was the cabin pressure, due to a couple forums I've seen on here...

Having two things fixed at once when possible is a bad idea. Now you'll never know if it was low coolant or the plugged drains.
Hearing gurgling sounds from behind dash is unlikely low coolant, but could be. You never know with a Jag.
