Default Hand Brake motor system for 2005 XJR

Hi, I'm having some intermittent errors showing whenever I pull my handbrake on my 2005 XJR, which has the original Brembo brakes. The IDS says that I may have a hand brake motor problem. I just checked the parts list on the SNG Barrett web-site and I found that there are two similar looking handbrake motor systems. C2C38667 Electronic Park Brake and C2C40572 Park Brake Assembly. Can I just ask if anyone knows if each car has two different assemblies, or is only one necessary per car and the two parts are for different model years? Is there a difference between the Brembo Brake fitted XJR and non-Brembo fitted cars? Thanks

It looks like the two numbers you have quoted one is early and the other is for a later car.

These guys in NL seem to know all about them.

Handbrake, JagParts

Fortunately I have never had a problem with my parking brake and

I was reading the other day on the internet that the complete

epb can be diagnosed electrically but you will need an auto electrician who is

familiar with them.

What DTC's do you have?

Thanks, I have a C1802 error, that says "Motor engage current not reached or travelled too far upon apply". Possible causes: "Parking brake motor failure"

Thanks for the info. Looks like gotta check a whole lot of possible other electrical issues first. This is the problem with modern (relatively) cars..... the electronics can potentially cause all sorts of intermittent and unusual problems. I had the car in for almost a month earlier this year and the mechanic was troubleshooting the ecu, fusebox and other potential electrical boxes, swopping out with my spare units, then one evening he realised the earth cable to the ECU was loose..... No more problems after it was tightened.
