Put a 2008 or 2009 front Bumper on a 2004, 2005 model XJ, am thinking about doing this to my 2004 xjr. If so how complicated is it, are you using the same bumper brackets? Also thinking about doing it the the rear bumper, i just like the way the later bumpers look a bit more aggressive.

I love that guy, if I remember correctly he also did a complete refit of the interior with all of the latest features such as cooled seats, etc.

As noted those price are in British Pounds, so multiply everything times 1.6. Anyhow works out to just under $10,000 with body shop painting + whatever the labor cost would be unless you do it yourself. It is not too hard, just some knowledge regarding disassembling/reassembling cars, modification of wiring harness, etc.

Needless to say, it would probably be cheaper to sell your car and buy a later model or do what I am working on right now using genuine Jaguar parts, I will be posting pics this week as soon as it is all put back together.

Default Thanks

WOW what a project he undertook. I would of sold my car and just bought a later model. I just like the front bumper, am not sure about the rear most likely will do it to make it match. Bumpers here in the State's are about $500 so am thinking a few Thousand with incidentals and labor? I have a buddy who owns a body shop for High End cars, Rolls, Lambos, Ferraris so I can trust his work. Question remains is (and I will probably call him) is do the brackets fit from the early style to the later style?

For the front bumper the article does say: "Remove the front bumper plastic brackets. You will reuse these."

It looks like new ones were used for the rear bumper though.

Obviously you will also need new fog lights, grilles for upper and lower, new washer jets, and sensors and new wiring harness and new marker lights. Also I seem to recall the old fenders do not line up with the new bumpers, but I could be mistaken. OF course it can be done, but I think it will cost you a bit more than you expect.

Just a suggestion, but the new grilles are compatible with your car, I replaced mine and think it makes the car look a lot better. I also chromed the aero blade in the opening of the bumper like some XKs have and looks great too. If you do not like the look of the chrome bumper strips, you could always paint them to match the body and that will give you a look closer to the newer bumpers.

I'll be posting pics this week.

Yes I know that there will be a few incidentals that I will need to look into, that being said am thinking that you maybe right about the cost associated with this and I maybe better off going your route. Looking forward to seeing your photos to get a better idea about the chromed aero blade, am not sure what area you mean.

Finally got around to getting some of the pics posted of the aero blade on the bumper chromed. Unfortunately Spectra Chrome had some issues and I am awaiting them to re-chrome the parts.

The results I thing are awesome. Tell me that you think.

I like it. It's a subtle improvement.

Talking I like it.

May I ask where you purchased all of the aftermarket pieces?

AS I mentioned before, I had the original pieces chromed, nothing aftermarket here. There are some minor flaws and when Spectra Chrome re-chromes them, I will take better photos.

However I may find myself selling them, as there appears to be an issue with the radar based Foward Alert and Adaptive Cruise Control interacting with the metal in the chrome, and buying new ones from the dealership :/ We'll see...

That looks real nice. Last night I ran over a coffee table that must of fallen of someone moving. It knocked the lower grill out and pushed the front facing radar back into the bumper. Is that something that I can just try to push back in or is there some type of alignment issue?

Update: So it turns out the chrome indeed affects ACC and forward alert (not park distance control as these are separate sensors). So looks like I am going to put these up for sale to anyone who would like to spiff up their jag as long as you do not have the above mentioned option.
