Default Has anyone tried using this Thermostat housing assembly from Amazon? cheap!

Hello Everyone,

I need to replace the thermostat housing assembly and I saw this deal on Amazon for $68!

vhttps://www.amazon.com/NewYall-Coolant-Thermostat-Housing-Assembly/dp/B09MKG83PP/ref=sr_1_1?qid=1679270396&s=automotive&sr=1-1&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.006c50ae-5d4c-4777-9bc0-4513d670b6bc&vehicle=2007-20-97-105--1-6-7-2942--6-1-549--11&vehicleName=2007+Jaguar+XJ8

Has anyone changed their housing recent and can recommend a Manf/part# ?

Thanks!

Why take a chance on something so vital which could lead to the expensive engine overheating?

OE part is not overly costly: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/jag...aguar-aj811793

+1 on using an OEM part.

Be sure to remove the four Torx screws from the lower part of the assembly that go into the cylinder block and reassemble with anti-seize compound.

Refill cooling system with OAT coolant such as DEXCOOL.

Ok You convinced me lol I'll order an OEM unit today. I hate hate hate redoing a job due to cheap parts.

NBCat: Thanks for the advice. I'm going to install the entire Octopus unit, not just the thermostat housing portion... Other than using anti-seize compound and Dex-Cool, any other tips or must do for this job? Do I need to use any gasket sealer etc? I like doing pro work.

I'll probably do the job the weekend coming up

Thanks!

Job done! Installed the OEM thermostat housing today and all went well. Mmm not as simple of a job and not bad either. Took 4 hrs and that is because I snapped one of those small hard vacuum lines that I had to replace.

It fixed the P0128 code I was getting and the temperature needle hoovering constantly near the cold line. Taking forever to warm up.

Thanks everyone for the advice!

OK you've done it now, but SNG Barratt are selling an aluminium replacement. At least that is what I have read today in the UK Jaguar Enthusiasts Club magazine that arrived today. It is the making of this vital part in plastic that causes all the problems.

Oh Boy.. Well it's too late now lol... Hopefully I have 100K+ trouble free miles until this one fails....Fingers crossed. I don't want to do this job again for a longgg time.

Good idea by SNG Barrett!

Is this anygood. My 2004 3.5 has a cracked housing, and now Jaguar tells me the thermostat housing is no longer available.

This pattern part looks great, but the price seems unbelieveably cheap. Not that I have much choice.....

"X350 Cooling parts"

Muppet company. Is the part tagging wrong or the description wrong?

descriptions like that look like a case for a phone call in which you insist for extended times to get someone technical to the phone
