Headlight housings - and backwards compatibility
Someone hit my car the other day and smashed my headlight.
I'm trying to find a replacement.
All my internal components (ballast/bulb, leveling motor etc) are in good shape and work.
My question is,
Can I retrofit all my components including the leveling motor and ballast in a 06-09 headlight housing?

You don't actually need a unit with a levelling motor; they were deleted quite early on because the self-levelling air suspension fulfils that function. Air suspension was originally only going to be fitted to 'high end' models but in the event all 350s had it. So, any HID unit, motor or no, should suit. Simpler than transplanting the innards I'd say.

I do understand it can be plugged in with no motor, but I do also know the leveling of the motors is directly operated by the air suspension, and I would honestly prefer to have 2 matching headlights in terms of leveling. My 05 XJR uses the leveling motors, I can see them adjust slightly as i drive sometimes
I just need to know if i can swap over the leveling motor and 12 pin ballast to the later 06+ model housing..
