Headlight Question
Hello all,
I'm the proud owner of a 2004 Vanden Plas that I picked up a little over a year ago. I really love the car and have had no issues with it except for a rear wheel bearing and some suspension bushings that I knew needed replacement when I bought the car.
I recently made the mistake of parking my car overnight in a public parking lot and someone decided it would be fun to break the headlight lens/cover on the passenger side of the car. The light still works but the plastic cover is gone. I've been able to find a replacement assembly, but I'm not positive it's correct. According to the VIN decoder from this forum my car has HID with dynamic leveling. The seller of the replacement assembly says it came from a 2005 Vanden Plas, but he isn't sure about the self leveling part.
The 2004 Jaguar XJ Living Brochure, page 14, states that all Vanden Plas cars have that feature. Does anyone know if that is true. I'm a newbie to this stuff.
Thanks in advance,
Ron

I think that you are lucky to get just the clear plastic cover.
Normally you have to buy the whole light 'box' and they are not cheap
even second hand.
Compare what you have with the broken one on the Jag and if they
look the same then fit it.
Bear in mind that it must be sealed against moisture and that maybe by taking
the whole 'box out' you could do a better job of it.

Have a 2003 with self leveling and due to flickering and after cleaning the groundstuds, one side went out completely a month later .
I got new ballast both sides . Those do not support selfleveling anymore but no problem since from a certain point on they cancelled that feature anyway and the airsuspension does all the work . Have a seat in the back of the trunk the car should rise after a couple of seconds.
Could be working with later headlight without selfleveling.and if there is a problem switch to "halogen" over Sdd (This will also switch off the orange light on the dash)
Instead of Hid so you no longer have self leveiing anymore on both sides.
by the way the ballast are Lad5g or Lad5g different number of pins take bumper of check both headlight ballast look for that Lad5...
if you changed to coil over you have to adjust manually
