Headlight swap

So my 04 xj8 has only one eye, the outer one had died. The Jag dealer quoted $1,600 to replace it. The unit is shot and it's the HD.
Is it feasible to put in a regular unit? I guess I'm hoping that 2 conventional lights would be as cheap as the HD, and maybe offset by hawking the good HD.
Would welcome your input on this, guys.

Certainly not the bulb, I replaced that, then the fuse the new bulb blew, before learning that the unit needs replacement. $1600 seems too much for a solution, which is why I thought of a non-HD light (pre-04??) that might drop in. I hope someone can give me a clue on the viability of this. Thanks for the responses.
