Dunno why you expected any other outcome.

So long as it is adhesives and foam-backed liner that are to be used? A headliner is attached to the backing with the backing .. OUT of the vehicle. AND all old material and its 'crumbs' removed.

There isn't any way around that that does NOT risk disaster... good spray nozzles or bad.

Thank you for reminding those of us inclined to risk a shortcut why that is so.

Now .. NON foam-backed with stitched and/or button-retainers rather than adhesive?

Different animal.

But seen more on far older cars, such as 'Deuce Coupe' custom hot-rods with real or synthetic leather (too heavy, long-term, for adhesives alone) is used.

Ouch. That really sucks. Like Thermite said, your first mistake was not fully removing the old material and crumbling foam/glue. Even if the nozzle had worked properly, it still would've looked like crap. I'm sure we've all gotten burned for trying to take shortcuts.

I am so glad I didn't take on this job now. Thanks for the heads up. The $375 to get someone else (professional) to do it looks like a good deal now.

At that price, and as complicated as the 'ceiling' and all its details is in a Jaguar, I'd call it a VERY good deal.

Despite which.. I expect I'll do something 'dumb' and slice my backer into two, three, or even four neat sections - based around the sunroof opening - to get it out of the vehicle easily.

I can readily do 'nice enough' reinforced joints and seam covers so it goes back in just as easily, and dasn't look TOO damned obvious, nor even all that different.

Going forward - as the plan is to keep it 'til I am too old to drive safely - I'd no longer have such a major PITA to refurba-**** it another time or two.

Now .. give me a few minutes to go and find my asbestos smalls, willyah?

I was ordering new wipers last night and noticed you can get a brand spanking new HL for the low, low price of $900.00, before shipping, from the dealer..

Ouch $$$ and that's going to be one BIG box.. ;-)

Mine just started coming down on the C pillar per usual. Time for extraction; looking like $400.00 at my local trim guy..

I did this myself was a bit more careful and it came out great. I did not take care of the corner sag however. I eventually will redo the entire thing in a micro suede. I used it on my xkr vert and it came out great
