Hello all - It finally is time for me to have my headliner repaired. Can someone tell me how to release/remove the headliner clips that are around the sunroof so that the headliner can be removed. Also, any overall advise on this removal would be very welcome.

Pull down around the sunroof opening, the clips will break. The headliner has metal tabs embedded in the foam. The clips should be replaced (5 of them, $10 each) otherwise the headliner will rattle.

 

One question about the clips. Are they round and the push in/spread style? These are the only type my dealer can find and I am not sure they are correct because the diagrams look to show a more rectangular or elongated clip. However, the Jaguar diagrams are cartoonish at best and make it har dto match these up. Thanks in advance for any info/help.

When I replaced my headliner, a good tug was all it took, but my clips didn't break. I was able to pop everything back in place with no issues or rattling. Your experience may vary, however.

 

The ones in my car are the rectangular type, they receive metal tabs about 1.5" long, 1/2" tall. The clip is shown as part of the sunroof assembly.

 

Thanks again for the info - that's what I thought. Do you by any chance have apart number for these clips. The parts guy at my local dealer doesn't seem too sharp and can't find a listing for these.

 

I have written down that they're C2C11690 "retainer" $13.40 list.

Hello again and thanks again you have been a savior for me on this. One more question the diagrams i have been able to find show 3 of these at the rear of the sun roof opening and 2 at the front. My dealer again can't locate the front ones. So I am wondering now 2 things
1-how many of these clips do i need to do the liner replacement job, and
2-are all of the clips the same part and par number?
