Question Heated driver seat and steering wheel not working

Hi,

I have a 2008 Jaguar XJR and the heated driver seat and heated steering doesn't work when I turn on the switch, passenger seat cooling and heated seats work fine - so does the back seats. Got it checked from a local mechanic and he mentioned that the fuses are good but the heat pad seems to have gone bad.

Any idea on where to get the heated pads for driver seat and any information/post to change it myself would be helpful.

Thanks

I had the heat pads changed in my 2004 a few months ago. Mine were not ventilated though.
The dealer did them for me, they said it can be a real pain to get the leather off and back on again if you have not attempted it before so I let them do it.
I have the same problem in my 2003 Grand Cherokee drivers seat but I am going to attempt that one myself, there are a couple of you tube clips about it.
I have bought the special upholstery pliers and staples ready.
I think my Jaguar pads were maybe £60 each or so after some discount, they did the seat base pads and the backrest ones, even though the backrest ones are normally not broken but I think the take their power feed from the base ones. They said it was sensible to change them at the same time while the leather cover was off as that it the difficult part of the job.
I don't think my heated steering wheel was affected but I may be wrong.

Do you happen to have the links to youtube videos? I will check it out and see if I can do it myself this summer.

the links were for my Jeep seat pads but the process would be similar I guess, I will try to find it, the pliers and staples only cost me about £12 on ebay.

here is one of the clips on you tube, as I mentioned I am going to give it a go in the Jeep myself but I let the Jag technicians do the jaguar. It may be worth removing the plastic side pieces first to have a poke about and see how the leather will lift away. Then make a decision.I think it is the refit of the leather that may be difficult to get just right.
Then just search ebay for upholstery pliers and staples.
