Heated Front Seats in Non-VDP?

2004 XJ8: Are the non-VDP X350's already wired (harnesses) for heated front seats? i.e. Can I swap the dummy panel for one with switches?
If so, do the seats need to be upgraded to the VDP seats for heat? Or did the normal 12-way seats come with heaters already installed?

It is almost certain that your wiring loom will have connectors for the heated seats, as keeping several loom specs is more costly than putting in wiring that may not be used, (Jaguar did this way back in the 60s), but with modern electronically driven car electrics, it may not be as simple as just installing the heated seats, the body control modules may need reprogramming, so you need to check out this aspect.

That is also potentially doubled when you take in to account 12-way or 16-way adjust.

Does anyone know the value of the thermister built into the seat pads.
Its shown as "sensor" in the electrical diag but is actually just a resistor that varies it value relative to the temp, hence a thermister
I'm replacing my pads with aftermarket ones but these wont have the sensor. I need to know the value so I can out one in.
The front module uses this to regulate the 3 temp settings.
I'm guessing it wont work at all without the sensor in place
If it does ill do some trial and error with some resistors to get better temp ranges.
Cheers
