Default Heater and diagnostics

Hi, first post here. Just bought a 2004 X350 3 litre, nice car :-)
My heater is cold on the drivers side UK car - have read up on blocked heater matrix and done a flush/sterident etc, but no change, really cold - can the servos cause this? Dash out job for servo? What are people using for diagnostics? Obviously I would like to diagnose the climate control problem I have. Have a laptop with Windows 7 pro. Is there a way to read faults of the climate control screen? Many questions, Merry Xmas :-)

A fault with the servos-I assume you mean the flaps in the CC box is very, very

unlikely.

The cause is either the pump referred to above by Clifton which is the small auxilliary

12 volt pump near top of radiator.

This is a pic of a nice new one:

or a partially blocked matrix and if you can't flush it you will need to replace it.

I can be done by removing just removing the glovebox.

Hi, is there a heater pump on the V6 3 litre petrol? I read it was just the V8? Can't believe there is so much difference on each side - passenger side is lovely and warm, drivers side is stone cold - just the tiniest bit warm, and I mean just not cold, even after a good run. Nothing appeared to come out of the matrix when flushed.

Sorry I just assumed all x350,s had an aux pump.

If you have not got an aux pump then it will be the matrix.

Have a look at JTIS which you can download from this forum.

There are drawings for the cooling system on different engines.

The matrix blocks in such a way that a section is excluded from the flow

but you still get full bore flow at the outlet if you see what I mean.

Hi, will get the lid open again today and take a look - anyone actually done a matrix change? My local Jag specialist seemed to think it would take 2 hours, so can't be that difficult.....can it?

The job is done from inside the cabin, at least on the V8's. The only thing you need to do under the hood is clamp the heater hoses to prevent coolant loss.

If your mechanic is saying 2 hours, let him do it. You're getting it done for a good price.

I have never had to do this job myself so I can't give you chapter and

verse and I don't know if you realley need to remove blower etc. but

I do know that the clamps on the matrix are pathetic.

More info here:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...lation-130143/

Matrix blockage is common on this Jag

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers
