Help with 2004 XJ8 blank screen.
The other day I decided to reseal the weather-stripping for the trunk. There wasn't much water in it, and the car ran flawlessly that same morning. After resealing two days ago, I went to check up on the trunk this morning after a hard rain. The trunk was perfectly dry. Not a drop of water.
However, when I started the car two things happened. I got a PO171 code. I'll check for loose hose, ETC. later.
The most alarming was a completely blank navigation screen! None of the buttons work, and only the bottom LCD display is dimly lit. The defroster is on, and I cannot turn it off.
I looked in the trunk to see if I may have bumped a wire or two, but I didn't see anything. It was perfect the other day when I parked it to reseal the rubber, but today, a totally dead screen.
I was having an issue with a dead battery before this happened. I replaced the battery at the end of December which lasted all but 20 days. Thinking the battery might be faulty, I exchanged it for a new one.
The new one lasted up until today. It was very weak. The car started, but the navigation screen was blank. I have since pulled the battery, and I'm charging it. I'll see if this was the cause. If not the battery
for the blank screen, any ideas?
Any ideas on what is going on, and a way to fix this?
