I its definitely a pain in the a**. I did my 04 XJR a few months back. I had to use a lot of different length extensions and try lots of different swivel attachments to get the job done, plus my hands are not very fat. After you remove the lower cover you should be able to get to the top nut and remove it. Then jack up the motor to get some clearance, and then take out the other mount bolts. If you loosen and drop the steering rack out of the way it will be much easier, but I didn't. I did not want to mess with the alignment and have to pay to get that done too. I had to bend on the cooler lines that run right next to the mount a little. Its a very tight fit but it can be done. I wouldn't attempt unless you have a good assortment of quality tools.

Thanks. I have every tool imaginable. Swivels, wobblies, multiple length extensions, swivel ratchets. I didnt want to remove or drop rack either so this is good news. Once I change this mount off to get the car redynoed with my intake mods:O)

ok. So yesterday I removed the plastic cover and decided I didn't have enough time to tinker with it. So my buddy offered to do it for me as he's laid off at the moment. Well several text messages later it seems he's having an issue. Is this all done from under the car or from on top? Any other pointers would be appreciated. He's a pretty competent mechanic so I'm unsure what the issue is at the moment. May just send to the shop s I don't see myself having the time at least till spring...Sad I know

Thanks!

Its super tight in there with the cooler lines running right over the mount, but I was able to squeeze it out with jacking up the motor as far as I could go without hurting anything

drop steering rack off subframe (3 18mm bolts, dont unbolt shaft) jack up engine and sometimes I have to lower subframe too on the four bolts enough to get the old mount out and new in. Be sure and unbolt the other side on the bottom so the engine will raise. Next time just break the pass side

well 5 days later, best to do it all at once cause you have to remove engine mount and bracket to do trans lines

I was able to replace the transmission cooler lines w/o removing the engine mount. It was a major PIA and had to slightly bend the tranny lines to get them to play but it worked just fine at the end. 8000 miles later no issues in that department.

Do these lines come in pairs? I don't think I'm going to be able to get these in time before I go on vacation and was wondering if anyone has had luck brazing the ends where the tubes go in ? Another option is to cut the lines flare the ends and use some high pressure hose and crimp clamp. Just some thoughts

Yes, the cooling lines come as a pair. I have heard of others cutting the lines off and using high pressure rubber hose with double hose clamps on each end (only one of the lines has high pressure) but well within the tolerance of the high pressure rubber hose/clamps.

Hope this helps.
