Help... EGR Removal
Hopefully a tech will read this soon. I am attempting to remove the supercharger from a 2004 XJR. The EGR valve and tube needs to be removed to access the lower bracket bolts on the air intake elbow. As a competent mechanic, I am at a loss as to how to access the exhaust manifold EGR bolts and the EGR to Air intake elbow bolts.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Major pain...Job Complete
Working to remove my XJR Supercharger, mid way through it says to remove the EGR.... Not exactly easy. I came very close to stripping the 8mm bolt head to the air intake using extensions, U Joints, knuckle ratchets, combo wrenches, divine intervention, etc.... If anyone is interested, I finally found the right combination (which sounds easy when done). I used a 3/8" drive six point socket and a 3/8" stubby (2 1/2") ratchet to snake behind the air intake elbow to the EGR.
Let me say, I am a huge believer in 6 point sockets now instead of the 12 point. The bolt finally broke loose, and, to my surprise, I did not have to remove the exhaust mainfold bolts since the Jaguar engineers kindly made that last 3" of the EGR with an accordian so that I could move the EGR out of the way to access the SC bolts.
I was then able to get the SC off and repaired.
BTW... Jaguar ONLY offers a complete supercharger. They also do not offer a replacement pulley. A new aftermarket pulley is $ 245. So, be careful if your remove the SC pulley.

Hey kmschaer,
You removed the supercharger without removing the intake elbow?
How did you do this!? I am looking at teh job right now and have everything removed except intake elbow to finally remove SC.
I am missing teh JTIS instructions on how to remove teh intake elbow, you wouldn't have those would you? JTIS #19.70.28
